Hebraic Movement – Children of the Bondwoman

“Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” Galatians 4:30.

There is an irreconcilable conflict between Salvation by faith and Salvation by works yet their are still those who are picking up their sacraments and symbols and going to work.  Merriam Webster defines superstition as a belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation.   The Hebraic movement is nothing more than a superstitious ritual designed to deceive Believers and will lead them into self righteousness.  “But without faith it is impossible to please him:…” Hebrews 11:6.  It is simple faith in what Jesus did, the proper object of our faith as defined by God, that pleases God, not our superstitious observances.

Jesus, being born a Jew, was required by law to observe all aspects of the law.  The Lord Jesus Christ, was perfect and was the only One able to fulfill the Law and never sin.  Such is the reason HE is our sacrifice and the ONLY sacrifice God will accept…whether we do or not.  While The Law revealed sin, it also pointed the saints of the Old Testament to Jesus and Him Crucified.  Moses, through the Mosaic Law, was the mediator between the Jews and God.  It required men to act in order to demonstrate their (our) impotency.  Every sacrifice made in the Old Testament was a type and shadow of Jesus Christ.  It was through their faith in the coming redeemer, Jesus Christ, that they were part of the Abrahamic Covenant; not because of their bloodline but because of their faith in Jesus.  The Mosaic Law, given through Moses, was how the Jews (before Christ) were grafted into the Abrahamic Covenant – again, through their faith in the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ.

“Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.” Galatians 3:16.  It is through Jesus and His finished work on the Cross that we, the Jews and the Gentiles, are grafted into the Abrahamic Covenant.  Jesus Chris IS the New Covenant and it is only through our unity with Him that we are grafted in to Abraham’s Covenant.  What is the Abrahamic Covenant?  Simply put, it is justification by faith – faith in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified.  “Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for Righteousness.” Galatians 3:6.  The Law, which served as the schoolmaster to the Old Testament saints, revealed the sin but could not save the sinner.  The New Covenant, our Covenant, to every man, woman and child, every nation and every race is through Jesus Christ because of His finished work.  He does not require action on our part as in the Old Covenant, He simply requires confidence in what HE did…not what WE do that He did.  God requires our faith in Jesus and Him Crucified.

Some may say this is making the Gospel of Jesus difficult.  If all that is required is simple faith in Jesus and His finished work, then why the long dissertation?  The answer is quite simple really.  It is the lack of understanding that leads others into participating in superstitious rites and acts, such as the Hebraic Movement.  Jesus participated in these feasts indeed but He did so to fulfill His mission for us, to atone for our sins, not for us to keep doing them.  No where in the New Testament does God nor Christ call for the Sabbaths and feasts (4th Commandment) to be observed.  All other nine of the ten commandments are mentioned in the New Testament.  The 4th commandment is the only one that did not involve moral law but ceremonial law.  The New Testament church (us) is not commanded to keep any particular day as a Sabbath or respect any day as being holier than the other for they are all to be holy unto the Lord (Romans 14:5-6).  It is unbiblical to teach that special days, times or seasons merit special considerations unto God.

The false teachers and false doctrines are the one’s wreaking havoc in the church today.  Test everything against the Word of God.  Discern whether it is carnal or spiritual before jumping in with both feet.  We are all accountable for our own salvation.  When the Lord asks, from where did you learn such and so, what will your answer be? Man or Him?  Seek Him.  – Donna Warren
