SALVATION OF SOULS

“29 Conscience, I say, not your own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?

30 For if I by Grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

31 Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God.

32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the Church of God:

33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be Saved.” 1 Corinthians 10:29-33

As a Believer we must forever be conscious of other’s conscience. Always bearing in mind the Salvation of their eternal soul as we consider whether or not our own actions glorify the Lord in their view. Even if our liberty to do so is there, it does not make our liberty expedient to the Salvation of another.

“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.” 1 Cor. 10:23

Just because it’s right, doesn’t mean it’s right. If our liberty does not edify and bring glory to the Cross of Christ for one’s Salvation and one’s daily living for God, we are not conscious of the other’s conscience. The eternal Salvation of another’s soul should always be at the forefront of our mind and if our actions would hinder or bring them closer to knowing Jesus Christ, Who He is and what He has done.

So many of us, myself included, will ignorantly exercise our liberty to the harm of another. Because we are not under law, we flaunt our liberty to the bound as we look down our noses to the religious…to those who have served the Lord as best they know how for many years yet they are bound by religious rites and doctrines. Having never known the freedom of which we have been given, they have been under the yoke of bondage and continue struggling daily. It is their conscience that is at stake. Are our actions drawing them closer to the understanding of the Message of the Cross or are we laying down the Message of the Cross as yet another law of which they must abide?

Prayerfully consider as we go into another year…consider the Salvation of others. Are we edifying or tearing down? In our determination to know nothing else among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified we are humbled, not puffed up. Humility brings a necessary denial of self. We quickly find that we are unable to do what only Jesus Christ has done at Calvary’s Cross for whosoever will believe and want nothing more of us but abundantly more of Him. That bitterness in our hearts we NEED Him for it be expelled and laid waste by the Grace of God.

Seek to please others but realize you will never be able to please all, but no matter the case, ALWAYS seek to please God. The Salvation of Souls is why Jesus Christ came. Lift Him up among the people and the Holy Spirit will draw all men to Him…both the sinner for Salvation and the Saint for Sanctification.
