“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that Grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” Romans 6:1-2

Shall we, those who are buried with Christ through the baptism into His Death and are spiritually born again making us dead unto the sin nature which reigned in our hearts before Salvation, continue to live in sin?  God forbid no!

^“3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His Death?

⁴ Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:3-4

Walking in the newness of life is not the universal acceptance of sin’s dominion in the Believer’s life but being buried with Christ; denying our self efforts and self will and picking up our cross, the newness of life Jesus afforded whosoever will believe and following Him all the days of our lives.  Daily walking in newness of life by Grace through faith in the Cross of Christ.  This is not a lingo nor a fad.  It is not that “Jimmy Swaggart thing” as one proposed friend referred to it.  This IS the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified.  Be determined to know nothing else.

^“17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

¹⁸ For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:17-18

As for me and my house, we will stand in the power of God…the Cross of Christ.  If such seems foolish unto you, make no mistake…you are perishing.

^“5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.

⁶ That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:5-6

Born of water, which speaks of natural child birth, represents a child; a baby being born of their mother’s womb.  On the other hand, born of the Spirit, that which occurs when one decides to receive the reconciliation unto God through the Cross of Christ, which is the only Sacrifice God will accept for the sin of man and is freely given to whosoever will receive this spiritual birth.

While a baby, born of the flesh, is but a child who looks unto their parents for all that they need.  So too does the babe in Christ look unto God the Father for all that they need. The Cross of Christ afforded us this ability.  If not for Jesus Christ, Who He is and what He did on Calvary’s Cross, no one would be reconciled to God.  We would remain spiritually dead unto God because of Adam’s fall.  Before the Cross of Christ, Old Testament Saints were reconciled unto God through the blood of bulls and goats but Adam’s sin was still imputed unto them.  Once they died, they went to “Paradise” a place in hell separated by a great gulf where they were comforted until Jesus came and “led captivity captive”.

^“8 Wherefore He said, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

⁹ (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things.)” Ephesians 4:8-10

As Jesus Christ descended unto the hell (NOT the burning part of hell) and led satan’s captivity (the Old Testament Saints) captive, Jesus then ascended up and made a show of the devil’s principalities and powers openly…triumphing over them.

^“14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His Cross; ¹⁵ And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:14-15

The absolute blasphemous teaching of those who declare Jesus died spiritually and suffered the devil’s torments for 3 days on the burning side of hell is heresy to the uttermost and is proclaimed behind many pulpits in the modern church is the reason for the condition of the modern church.  They truly have no understanding of the Atonement and have preached another Jesus and another gospel which has ministered death to the people.  Instead of faith in Jesus’ victory at the Cross, of which the born again Believer is to be buried with Him, into His Death, their faith is directed to His Resurrection which is indeed PROOF that every sin was atoned but if we know Who Jesus is and what He did, the victory of which was won on Calvary’s Cross, by default we have no doubt unto His glorious Resurrection.  He is alive and we know that we know that we know because we as born again Believers, born of the Spirit of God, have been buried with Him on Calvary’s Cross and the power of sin has been broken in our lives which  We are able to live unto God.
