GODLY SORROW

“10 For Godly sorrow works repentance to Salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world work death.

11 For behold this selfsame thing, that you sorrowed after a Godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things you have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.” 2 Corinthians 7:10-11

Godly sorrow works repentance in the heart of man. It is the conviction of the Holy Spirit that which carefully shapes the condition of the heart if we so allow.

Condemnation of the world works sorrow as well but it is sorrow unto death. The shaping that occurs from this sorrow deadens as it hardens.

We who have believed upon Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior are not effected by the condemnation of the world. Our treasures are laid up in Heaven. They were bought with a price…a high price. The Blood of Jesus has redeemed whosoever will believe from worldly sorrow which wrought death in our heart.

Alive unto God, the Spirit of God quickens our mortal bodies to live unto Him when we fail and we repent. Our hearts have seen the Salvation of the Lord and we once again deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Jesus. Not ashamed of this Gospel, we know that we know that we know in Whom we have believed and we are persuaded that He is able to keep that which we have committed unto Him (1 Timothy 1:12).

Don’t be ashamed of Godly sorrow…be thankful, for it is working repentance in a heart that has been bent toward the sin nature to obey the lusts of the flesh.

PRESSING TOWARD THE MARK

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

All have a high calling of God but not all seek to find it IN Christ Jesus. Once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, religion will present the questionnaires to help us “determine” our calling. At that point we are no longer pressing toward the mark for the prize “IN Christ” but “IN Psychology” and in reality have made the Cross of Christ of no effect.

Having gone down the wrong path, the fruit has not yet developed…but it will. Sin is not stagnant and that wrong path, although it seems right and is taken by sincere Believers, is sinful. If we’re not pressing toward the mark by faith in the Cross of Christ Jesus, fighting that good fight of faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified, then we are being pushed AWAY from faith in the Cross of Christ. Buried with Jesus when we were Saved, we are IN Him; in His Death (Romans 6:3-5). To be sure, it is HIS Death that broke the power of sin for the Believer.

Jesus came to die on Calvary’s Cross. He was and is the Sacrificial Lamb of God Who took away the sins of the world for whosoever will believe. It is at Calvary that Jesus Christ defeated sin and death. Knowing this, knowing Who Jesus is and what HE has done for whosoever will believe, there is no doubt as to His glorious Resurrection. We know in Whom we have believed because He lives in us and we in Him as we choose daily to deny ourselves and follow Him. The Spirit which quickened Christ from the dead has quickened our mortal bodies and we have been made spiritually alive unto God (Romans 8:11)…we have been Born Again; a new creature in Christ Jesus. It is too late to offer us philosophies from the vanities of man’s mind as the answer to which we seek. We have seen and we know the power of God and it is IN Christ Jesus… Who He is and what HE has done.

Simply stated, we are determined to know nothing else among you because there is nothing else among you that can change the heart of man except faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. This is why we lift Him up. This is why we point you to the Cross of Christ. There is a witness in our spirit of the power of God. We have been changed. We’re not who we used to be. We have not apprehended but we continue pressing on IN Christ Jesus. At times it may not be pretty as we are travailing through the storms. At times we may even get our eyes on the storm but it is during those times that the big waves come and knocks us square into the Rock of our Salvation.

“20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” Galatians 2:20-21

Do not frustrate the Grace of God…walk in the Grace of God; press toward the mark of the high calling of God IN Christ Jesus; no one comes to the Father but by Him.

JUDGE THE FRUIT

“15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Matthew 7:15-16

False prophets are known by their fruit. Do they gatherer adulterers and fornicators? Do they give the people a license to sin? Do they offer idols? Those self help methods cloaked in Scripture causing the congregation to put themselves on the pedestal of idolatry. Even the church itself can become an idol and will serve to support the false teacher promoting their false gospel.

Witchcraft – yes, witchcraft is rampant in the modern church however, because it’s incantations seek to manipulate the righteous spirit world instead of the evil, people don’t recognize it as witchcraft.

Murderers who may not physically murder another but won’t think twice about the murder of another’s character.

“19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21

The Fruit of the Spirit is not taught but produced. It is produced by the Spirit of God working in our hearts to produce fruit unto God. The ministry of the Holy Spirit discerns the intents of the heart and cuts asunder that which is not pleasing unto God…that which is not of faith in Jesus as the Source and His Cross as the means by which we receive from God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The Word of God, from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 points to the Cross of Christ Jesus. The Word of God is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness and It will do what It is intended to do when rightly divided.

“17 Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.” Matthew 7:17-20

As we who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ look unto Him, Who HE is and what HE has done to break the power of sin in our lives, we give the Holy Spirit latitude to do that which He is commissioned to do…produce fruit unto God so that Jesus Christ may be glorified. God’s Plan of Sanctification works just as well as His Plan of Salvation because it is the SAME PLAN – Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.” John 12:32

When the Cross of Christ is lifted up among the people, He will draw all men unto Him…the sinner and the Saints are both drawn unto holiness and righteousness; the sinner for Salvation and the Saint for Sanctification.

“22 But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
Galatians 5:22-23

Judge the fruit before aligning with a ministry. Who is being lifted up and what are they being drawn to? If it’s not Jesus Christ and Him crucified, it is fruit unto death.

WARN THEM

“20 Again, When a righteous man does turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at your hand.

21 Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also you have delivered your soul.” Ezekiel 3:20-21

There are a lot of folks who have turned a blind eye to the righteous who have turned from their righteousness and commit iniquity. Too many have died spiritually because no one stood up against false doctrine and allowed it to sweep away their Brothers and Sisters into a sea of iniquity. With no dumb donkey to warn them of their madness, they are following the ways of Balaam as the modern Church stands on the sidelines scared of offending them. Blood is on your hands. Repent.

Allow me to be perfectly clear, if it happens to be my family and friends who turn from their righteousness or even my family and friends who are in fact counted among the wicked because they do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour that you are afraid of offending, by all means…WARN THEM in love and if they are offended, that is between them and God. Don’t turn a blind eye to sin. Do not compromise with sin. Do not give one inch to the precepts of the devil.

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common Salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the Saints.” Jude 1:3

Contend for the faith. Warn them. If it is not Jesus Christ and Him crucified as the Source and the means by which we receive from God, it is another Jesus and another gospel and it is accursed. This faith of which we have in the Cross of Christ is the only faith God will honor. There is no other way, no other truth and no other life. Don’t wait on a dumb donkey to warn the righteous of their unrighteousness.

THE SABBATH

The Sabbath was a day of rest in the Old Testament and not a day of worship as many believe. The Old Testament Sabbath was a picture of the type of rest afforded the New Covenant Believer by Jesus Christ.

When we who believe upon Jesus Christ as the Source and His Cross as the means by which we receive from God and purposefully choose to fight THAT good fight of faith DAILY and deny ourselves; our abilities, talents, intellect, etc., we are then able to pick up our cross (the blessings Jesus afforded us at Calvary) and follow Him. Then and only then are we able to enter into HIS rest.

“And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

The Cross of Christ was a place of great suffering for our Lord but for those who believe, Calvary is a place of great blessing. It is in fact the only place we can commune with God. Faith in our doings, no matter how religious or Scriptural they are, is not faith that God can honor.

Will he bless us? Certainly. Look at Israel in the wilderness…yet they were out of God’s Will and perished.

As a matter of fact, when our faith is in those things which are indeed Scriptural for victory over sin (what GOD has declared sinful, not man), our “faith” is not actually faith but ambition. It is a vain attempt at victory and in no way restful to our soul.

The only fight the Believer is commissioned to fight is the fight of faith…faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. It is there that we take His Yoke and learn of Him. It is there that Mary sat as Martha worked. It is there, at the Cross of Christ, the we find rest unto our souls.
“28 Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take My Yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29

ABIDING IN HIM

“4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except you abide in Me.

5 I am the Vine, you are the branches: He that abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” John 15:4-6

Developing in the Lord requires continuing in the Lord…continuing in HIS Prescribed Order of Victory of faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 40 days of purpose, 21 days of fasting or 12 steps may indeed cast forth a branch but it is a branch that is withered and will be cast down.

“3 Know you not, that so many of us as were Baptized into Jesus Christ were Baptized into His Death?

4 Therefore we are buried with Him by Baptism into Death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His Death, we shall be also in the likeness of His Resurrection:” Romans 6:3-5

At Salvation we are planted with Jesus; planted in His Death…planted there where the penalty of sin was paid for the believing sinner and where the power of sin was broken for the believing Saint. Being planted with Jesus in His Death, we must REMAIN planted with Him if we also wish to be in the likeness of His Resurrection. Venturing off into the various methods offered by the religious cause the branch to wither.

Sadly, there are many withered branches. Those who are spiritually defeated. Even more sadly, there are even more of those who can’t wait to gather them and would cast them into the fire themselves if so allowed. Little do they know, they too are a rotten stick whose fruit stinks of self righteousness.

“21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:

23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.” Jude 1:21-23

Instead of reaching UP to pull that withered branch down into the fire, why don’t we pull them out of the fire with fear and trembling.

The Cross of Christ is and was for whosoever will believe. It is at Calvary, that Jesus Christ paid the price for victory over sin. Point them to the Author and Finisher of their faith as we too continue looking unto and maintain our faith in the Cross of Christ Jesus…abiding there in bringing forth fruit unto GOD as only HE can produce.

CONTENDING

Sadly, there are too many Christians who do not take the Word of God seriously and bear the iniquity of the heathen. Not contending for the faith of which they have been given, their moral compass is guided by emotions because the Word of God is not taken seriously.

This heresy of the modern church to not correct and in fact condone sin has allowed the devil himself to infiltrate and overtake those who should have been corrected according to the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to drive them to a point of decision to follow the Lord or follow the world.

Rest assured, when those who do not make Heaven their home and arrive at their final destination in a devil’s hell, they will not remember the words of their enemies spewing hate at them…those religious vipers who seemingly want to send them to hell themselves. No, not at all. They will remember those who professed to love them, knew the truth and did not tell them. For all of eternity, they will wonder why we didn’t tell them the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. They will wonder why we didn’t tell them their lifestyle is sinful.

I don’t mean beat them over the head with our religious sticks every time we see them but instead draw the line clearly and precisely on what the Bible says and do not be ashamed of the side of which you choose to stand, if in fact you choose the Word of God. The Word of God will not come back void. It will do what It says It will do when delivered as It is supposed to be delivered.

This of which I write is meant to correct as well; to warn all who have been sitting on the fence allowing the devil to play in what the Lord has given you. There are consequences for disregarding the Word of God…ESPECIALLY as a Believer.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The devil plays for keeps. He comes to kill, steal and destroy. We can’t fix the broken. We can’t set a liberty the bound. We can’t heal the sick…but we know the One Who can. We know Who He is and what HE has done for whosoever will believe. We know that He has broken the power of sin for those who choose to believe. Contend for the faith in which we have been given…faith in the Cross of Christ Jesus. Be determined to know nothing else among you.

Be still and know that He is God and that He will do what He said He will do…work all things together for good for those who love the Lord.

“3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common Salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the Saints.

4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the Grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, how that the Lord, having Saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.” Jude 1:3-5

TRANSLATED

“12 Giving thanks unto the Father, Who has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the Saints in light:

13 Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the Kingdom of His dear Son:

14 In Whom we have Redemption through His Blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” Colossians 1:12-14

We have been freely given the Blood of Christ for Atonement of sin. It’s not the Blood plus something else. The same Blood which Atones for our sin was also given to break the power of sin. Man made schemes make the Blood of Jesus of no effect in the Believer’s life.

The Blood is for whosoever will believe upon Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour for Salvation AND Sanctification. The Blood doesn’t stop working once we are Saved but continues flowing. It expels that which is not pleasing unto God and heals the brokenness.

But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

The Blood of Christ Jesus was sufficient for our Salvation and it is sufficient for our Sanctification. Be determined to know nothing else.

ONE SACRIFICE

The only meeting place between God and man is Calvary. It is there and there alone that faith is recognized.

For the Law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.” Hebrews 10:1

The Mosaic Law, or ANY law for that matter, can make the comers perfect. Even the Mosaic Law and the sacrifices thereof could not take away the sin of man but would only cover sin. It is the Blood of Jesus alone that TAKES AWAY sin of the world.

Those who are called by His Name, we who have freely chosen to follow the Lord Jesus Christ, have been forgiven of our sins. Our sins and our iniquities are remembered no more. Many are quick to point out the heathen we once were, even some professing Christians, but the fact of the matter is the Blood of Christ Jesus washed those sins away and they have been tossed into the sea of forgiveness. The fact that we once did the same thing sinners do (because we too were sinners) doesn’t mean we were right in doing so.

9 Then said He (JESUS), Lo, I come to do Your Will, O God. He takes away the First (Covenant), that He may establish the Second (the New Covenant).

10 By the which will we are Sanctified through the offering of the Body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Hebrews 10:9-10

Vain philosophies with sincere intentions will not sanctify the Believer…even when cloaked in Scripture. Going to the Cross of Christ with our humanistic psychology, sanctimonious rituals and traditions of man for victorious Christian living is a type of Cain’s offering and not of faith. Our faith cannot be in two things. We cannot have 99% faith in the Cross of Christ for Sanctification and 1% in “our part”. Our part is not of God. Our part contaminates His Part.

It is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to write God’s laws on our heart (Hebrews 10:16). The Holy Spirit can and will remove those things that are not pleasing unto God and replace (not rehabilitate) them with His desires as long as we approach the place HE ordained for our Sanctification with utter dependence and faith upon HIS Prescribe Order of Victory ALONE…no leaven, no poison, nothing added to the Cross of Christ Jesus but faith in His Sanctifying power.

We are Sanctified through the Body of Jesus Christ once and for all. One Sacrifice did it all. Perfection has not put on perfection this side of glory but daily there remains a work to do in our hearts for they are indeed deceiving. Our hair may gray, the wrinkles may form but the heart that is perfect toward God, is a heart that is being divided asunder where His strength may be made perfect and Jesus Christ glorified. Be careful of judging the perceived weak Christians, those whose humility is deemed as weakness, for it is often their hearts and prayers that the Lord is seeking to reveal HIS glory.

The fight of faith is not an easy fight. The world, the flesh and the devil are battling to redirect that faith. But knowing this, knowing that our old man is crucified with Christ, that the body of sin might be destroyed, we know that we have been freed from sin’s power (Romans 6:6-7). Knowing in Whom we have believed, we are determined to know nothing else. The fads and vain philosophies that we once chose are now as dung. We have seen the Lord move in our hearts when our faith was redirected back to Him, Who He is and what He did. When we returned to our first Love, Jesus Christ and Him crucified, the only meeting place between God and man, our heart was quickened and we once again believed. Our belief wasn’t for Salvation for we were already born again, but for Sanctification, for victorious Christian living…for the power of sin to be broken by the Blood of Christ – just like the Bible says.

Jesus still stands at the door knocking, bidding those to come…whosoever will come; come back to the only place where God and man can meet; the only place where we can approach the Throne of God with boldness…the Cross of Christ and be determined to know nothing else among you.

-Donna Clark Warren

ATONED

It is the Blood of Jesus that made the Atonement between God and man.

40 days of purpose does not “strengthen” that Atonement in any way. 12 steps will not take the place of the Atonement. The Cross of Christ plus water baptism for the purpose of Salvation, in fact makes the Cross of Christ of no effect.

While the preaching of Jesus Christ and Him crucified may seem foolish to some Believers…to those who are perishing, it is in fact the power of God to us who are Saved. You see, the closer we get to the Throne of God, we have a greater understanding of the value of the Blood of Jesus. There would be no Atonement without the Blood of Christ…none. There would be no peace with God…none.

It is the Blood of Jesus that affords us the uninterrupted flow of God’s Grace. When we look unto another way, another “truth” or another “life”, we hinder God’s Grace because the Cross of Christ has become of no effect.

It goes against all of our worldly precepts to not earn our own. These precepts are what we know to do in our flesh. We are bent toward them. Coating the precepts in Scripture and calling them Biblical, does not make them right but only serves to contaminate the Truth with a lie.

The hardest part about picking up our cross and following Jesus is that we must first deny ourselves. Our abilities, talents and intellect are laid waste by faith in the Son of God, Who He is and what He has done. The Atonement stands. The price is paid for those who believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. We belong to Him and He is ours. Seek Him first. Be determined to know nothing else among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Jesus said unto him, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life: no man comes unto the Father but by Me.” John 14:6
