1 Timothy 1:5 “Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.”
Questions lead to strife but faith leads to love. Conflict over outward religion destroys the work of God. Our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the means by which we are saved. Faith is how we connect with God and His love through us is how we imitate God. Our “faith” is before God, not men and His “love” is before men through us. Among Christians we often talk about faith. Our faith is sincere and strong in the Lord. “We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not please ourselves.” Romans 15:1. However, among the unbelievers, unenlightened and unconvinced, they do not understand our strong convictions and faith but they do understand love.
1 Corinthians 9:19 “For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;”. The dispensation of God’s grace doesn’t stop at the Christians door. The majority of Christians understand this; even some unbelievers understand this. However, the problem occurs when we stop the Lord’s dispensation of grace at our door and never distribute His grace and love to the unbeliever but instead display our faith, our outward religion, to the lost.
The harvest will be reaped by the remnant through love not judgement nor conflict. Through one Spirit, the Holy Spirit, we are baptized into one body, the body of Jesus Christ, when we accept Jesus as our Saviour. The Holy Spirit does not recognize denominational lines. Wasting time among each other disputing God’s Word will destroy the very work of God we are called to do. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10.
When we choose to walk in love we become the beacon of light to the lost. We glorify God by edifying one another. Only God can purify our heart with His love and it is His love we must put on display for the world. Glorify the work of God through the love of God. Glorifying our faith does not win the lost, God’s love wins the lost and it it His Gospel that leads them to the Cross. – Donna Warren
