Better Late than Never….

For me, I’m always late but praise God, He’s always right on time.  I wasn’t sure if I was going to write anything this morning.  I was trying to use the excuse it’s a holiday but when God puts something on your heart, you better get to writing!

Faith is what is on my heart this morning.  Yesterday in my Sunday school class we were talking about the threshing floor.  The remnant of God’s children who will be a part of reaping the harvest of lost souls.  I pray to be a part of that remnant.  You can’t “talk people into it” – faith that is.  You don’t “boast” of your faith.  You just take a small step to believe and be receptive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and it begins to build.  It literally becomes the rock you stand on.  It becomes our source of joy and strength during times of trouble because it is what connects us with God. It is when we come to the Cross under God’s terms, not our own.  Not with knowledge of Jesus but faith in Jesus.

The threshing floor, the sifting is what will separate the weak from the strong in faith.  We see Christians today who are not walking in the power of God.  They are constantly on the defense, instead of the offense.  The entire Word of God is for the entire body of Christ.  We can’t pick and choose the parts that fit “our” lifestyle and leave the rest.   The enemy wants to keep us pinned down and weak.  The enemy knows the threshing floor, he knows we will need God’s power, His Holy Spirit, to get us through the sifting.  Many churches today are scared to preach on the power of the Holy Spirit.  They are scared to teach on miracles, signs and wonders that are available to all of us. They are scared because the people may not want to “go there”;  it’s too deep, too much….too supernatural.   They direct them to the Cross, then direct them to the parts of the Bible that fits into their religion.  The congregation is there but they are on the defense.  The enemy doesn’t mind because they are not exercising the power endued to them through the Holy Spirit.  The enemy knows they will be merely on the defense while on the threshing floor.  The enemy is not afraid of our power, he’s afraid of God’s power endued to us through His Holy Spirit.

Then there are those, and I consider myself one, that are strong in the faith.  That are ready to jump up and down in the middle of the threshing floor praising God’s name.  They (we)  too are in danger.   Pride can easily slip in the door.  We must be sure it is our confidence in God and not our self confidence that we stand on.  Knowledge of Jesus and self confidence is not what faith is built on.  Faith in Jesus’ and confidence in His power to go out before us and make our way is what our foundation consists of.  Proverbs 16:7 “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”  Trusting God’s supernatural  instead of our natural is the kind of faith we all need.  Not worrying about tomorrow but rejoicing in today.

Matthew 10:34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.”  God’s Word, The Gospel of Jesus Christ, in its ENTIRETY, will bring division between light and dark.  His Word, will set those apart who keep the faith in Him, and cause us to rejoice.

Luke 22:32 “But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”  As Christians, we are called to love our enemy.  Let’s not also forget to love one another in Christ.  Let’s all pray for one another to keep the faith while we are on the threshing floor. – Donna Warren
