“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” James 4:6.
Some people don’t realize the difference between humility and self esteem. Humility requires submission of one’s self to God’s will, while self esteem requires confidence or lack of confidence in one’s self. Often times low self esteem on one’s part is viewed as humility when in fact any kind of self esteem, whether high or low, is at enmity against humility because it involves self. Even when we realize we are not perfect, pride will still hinder us from submitting. Once we admit our need, there is still one more step before receiving and that is submission. When we accept Jesus Christ into our heart, we accept Him as our Saviour. When we humble ourselves and submit to His will, He becomes our Lord.
“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18.
