Conditional Understanding

“And, having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” Colossians 1:20.

Today my husband made an interesting observation regarding this scripture that really witnessed to me.  On the Cross, Jesus reconciled all things on earth and Heaven; meaning at the Cross, Jesus addressed both man’s fall and Lucifer’s fall.  It seems that many times it is hard for us to understand both.  Either the Believer doesn’t understand THEY are fallen or they don’t understand Lucifer is fallen and continue battling him daily.

When we don’t understand we are fallen, we fail to understand our condition but recognize our position.  We run in our authority in Jesus’ name telling the devil just what he can and can’t do, while never understanding we too were fallen and Jesus chose to save us.  Jesus saved us from satan’s dominion because He is the only one Who can…we can’t.  The same is true today.  It is only through our faith in what Jesus did on the Cross that we remain dead to our sin nature through the Holy Spirit’s empowerment, not our empowerment.   Our authority in Jesus name is not to perform our will on earth but His will on earth – sorry, all you word of faith believers.  “Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.” John 5:19.  Jesus laid aside the expression of His Deity but never the possession of His Deity and set an example for us saying He could do nothing of Himself but what the Father did.

Then on the other hand, there are those who do understand their condition but fail to understand their position.  These Believer’s are often in danger of not seeing or understanding the joy of the Lord or the grace of God because of fear of the devil.  They remain defeated.  Please understand the meaning of “defeated”.  Remaining defeated spiritually is much different than remaining defeated carnally.  A person can be broken down, battered and bruised but their spirit can be at peace through faith in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified.  Just because our body or our finances are in the storm…that doesn’t mean our spirit is. Hallelujah!!  Sorry again to the word of faith believers, prosperity is not always tangible.  Sometimes we are given a miracle of endurance instead of a miracle of healing, please read all the way to the END of Hebrews chapter 11.  “And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;” Hebrews 11:36-37.  Yes, glory to God, He is still in the miracle business but we must realize HE, is our reward!

The Cross of Jesus did address both the fall of man and of Lucifer.  We must recognize both to understand our true position in spite of our condition.  – Donna Warren
