” For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2.
The law of the Spirit of life is the requirement of faith in the works of Jesus on Calvary’s Cross, not faith in our works, self effort or self will, to be free from the law of sin and death. The Holy Spirit is only commissioned to isolate our sin nature when our faith is in Jesus. This is why we have so many defeated Christians, their faith is in their self eff…ort and self will for victory over sin. While others brow beat and condemn the Christian who has failed, this Christian truly loves the Lord but because their faith is unknowingly placed in their self will for victory they are not made free from the law of sin and death.
This is not condoning sin but allowing the Holy Spirit to make us free from sin through our faith in Jesus. The modern church promotes motivation, psychology and seeker sensitive schemes of man to overcome sin. These things will not isolate our sin nature. If we could overcome sin in this way Jesus would not have had to go to the Cross.
