“22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;
23 And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord you shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for you serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:22-24.
A heart prepared to please God and not man (singleness of heart) will render proper service to their “masters according to the flesh” whether their master is watching or not.
“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10.
Seeking to please God in everything we do makes the Lord Master of everything in our life. It is very easy to keep certain parts of our lives to ourselves and lord over them according to our will. Recognize that which we lord over and the reward that is received.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
We either deny ourselves, pick up our cross (the benefits afforded the Child of God by Jesus Christ and His finished work on Calvary’s Cross) and follow Jesus OR we deny Jesus, pick up the benefits of our self efforts and follow self.
Choose wisely.
