The congregation will go no further than where their pastor leads them.  If the Pastor is being spiritually led by a hierarchy church government that distributes various “series” for sermons, the congregation is being led by man made programs…not by the Holy Spirit.

“¹¹ And He gave some, Apostles; and some, Prophets; and some, Evangelists; and some, Pastors and Teachers; ¹² For the perfecting of the Saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the Body of Christ:” Ephesians 4:11-12

God’s government consists of the Five Fold Ministry who are led by the Spirit of God.  It is not the responsibility of the church to oversee social justice, promote social justice or toil in the world for the betterment of society.  The church’s responsibility is to point both the sinners and the Saints to Jesus Christ and His finished work on the Cross and all things will work together for the cause of Christ…not man made philosophies.

“But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

God called preachers belong to God and they are led by the Spirit of God.  Hirelings belong to man and are led by philosophies of man.  If you follow a hireling, your spiritual growth cannot exceed theirs until you come out from among them.  We will all give an account.  We must all decide who or what we are actually seeking.  If it is fellowship with carnal Christians who walk in the statutes of the world or if it is fellowship with the Lord and walking in His Statutes.

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”  Joshua 24:15
