“¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God.

¹⁵ For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of Adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

¹⁶ The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the Children of God:” Romans 8:14-16

Attempting to live by the systems of the world, namely humanistic psychology laced with Scripture, leads to bondage.  Sharing our hearts with ways of the world to break the power of sin in our life and “gain” a victory of which is already freely given by Jesus through Calvary’s Cross leaves to a perpetual fear of failure as our faith is placed in that which “we” did to overcome.

“⁴ Abide in Me (Jesus), and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except you abide in Me.

⁵ I am the Vine, you are the branches: he that abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5

The Spirit of Adoption, the Holy Spirit, will not point you to Lent, 40 days of purpose, Jewish feasts or 12 steps but to the Cross of Christ as the Source and the Means by which victory over the world, the flesh and the devil are found.  He will bear witness that we are Children of God through the Blood of Jesus, not worldly systems which cannot produce fruit unto God but will in fact be cast in the fire and burned.

“⁶ If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

⁷ If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.

⁸ Herein is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be My Disciples.” John 15:6-8

God is not glorified through methods of man and their vain philosophies.  God is glorified through His Son, Jesus Christ….abide in Him.  Be determined to know nothing else.
