Cursed Blessings

Malachi 2

If you will not hear, and if you will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto My Name, says the Lord of Hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because you do not lay it to heart.‘ Malachi 2:2

The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed.  So many have thrown out the Old Testament but to do so is to dismiss a major portion of the Bible.  The Word of God says that “ALL Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine…” (2 Tim. 3:16-17), not some but all.

Because the Levites had lost the fear of the Lord, they offered to Him in Sacrifice the “torn, lame and sick” and then complained that the Sacrifices were polluted and contemptible.  This complaining was not out of reverence for God but because a portion of the Sacrifices were for the Levites to provide for them and their families.  The Priests cared nothing about the Lord being insulted but only that they did not receive what they wanted.

I marvel that you are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the Gospel of Christ.

But though we, or an angel from Heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-8

Just as God cursed the blessings promised to the Levites for not keeping the Covenant given to them, so to does He curse the blessings promised to the New Covenant Believer who does not keep their part in the New Covenant.

For by Grace are you Saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”  Ephesians 2:8-9

Our part in the New Covenant is faith in Jesus Christ, the Sacrificial Lamb of God, Whose death paid the penalty of sin for whosoever will believe AND Whose death broke the power of sin for those who have freely believed.  Our part is faith.  We fight the good fight of faith.  We fight to not let our faith be moved to another source or another means to receive blessings from God other than Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

The Old Testament Priests failed to honor the Covenant that had been given them to uphold the Word of God and began complaining about their portion and sustenance given them by backslidden Israel.  The fact of the matter is, backslidden Israel was doing just what the Priest’s had allowed them to do and held God in contempt for the results of their own actions.

But you are departed out of the way; you have caused many to stumble at the law; you have corrupted the Covenant of Levi, says the Lord of hosts.

Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as you have not kept My Ways, but have been partial in the law.” Malachi 2:8-9

Many a preacher and teacher today have caused many to stumble at the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus which frees us from the Law of Sin and Death (Romans 8:2) because they have corrupted the Covenant given to New Testament Believer’s.  The Covenant given to us IS the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, yet so many choose to present another gospel and another Jesus because it tickles the ears of those sitting on the pew.  No one is offended because the Cross of Christ is not presented as the source and the means of their blessings as they continue in their good works to “earn” God’s blessing.  Their conscience is soothed for their sincere efforts and what they deem as consecration is in fact ambition.

Are your blessings promised you in the New Covenant in fact cursed because you are sitting under another gospel and another Jesus? God does not change.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever more.  God cursed the blessings promised to the Levites because they no longer honored His Covenant.  He will as well curse the blessings promised to New Covenant Believer’s for their partaking in another gospel and another Jesus.  The Holy Spirit is not commissioned to superintend the blessings of those sitting under another gospel or seeking after another Jesus.

Prayerfully consider.
