“17 Do not you yet understand, that whatsoever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.” Matthew 15:17-18
That which proceeds from the evil heart and out of the mouth of man, reveals the man. Discern that which is coming from the heart and that which is coming from one’s own mind. Many know the religious lingo but their hearts are far from God.
“And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” James 3:6
The tongue can no man tame. It will reveal the condition of the heart and defile the man.
“19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defiles not a man.” Matthew 15:19-20
Our intellect and self will cannot overcome the tongue which defiles but our faith in the Cross of Christ gives the Holy Spirit latitude to tame our tongue. When our heart is changed through the ministry of the Holy Spirit because of our faith in the finished work of Jesus on Calvary’s Cross to break the power of sin in our lives, our tongue does not defile but blesses. Praise is forever on our lips.
To be sure, the word of faith doctrine will instruct the Believer to bless with their mouth and such will change the heart. In other words, those things which come out of the mouth GO TO the heart and affects change. Not so friend. The Word of God says “those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth FROM the heart, and they defile a man” (Matt. 15:18).
The tongue cannot be tamed by will power. Incantations and spells from the minds of man cannot effect a change of heart and is nothing more than white witchcraft which attempts to manipulate the righteous spirit world as opposed to the evil spirit world…either way it is witchcraft.
Simple belief in the Cross of Christ for dominion over evil thoughts, false witness, blasphemies, etc. will give the Holy Spirit latitude to remove such evil desires from our heart and our tongue will no longer defile.
“I will praise Thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth all Thy marvellous works.” Psalms 9:1
Precept upon precept, line upon line, the work of the God is performed in our heart as we look unto Jesus…the Author and Finisher of our faith. The Lord shows us the condition of our heart in hopes we will look to Him to remove these things…not to condemn us. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Those God loves He chastises.
“10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast
me not away from Your Presence; and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of Your Salvation; and uphold me with Your free Spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors Your Ways; and sinners shall be converted unto You.” Psalms 51:10-13
