“8 Also I heard the Voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And He said, Go, and tell this people, Hear you indeed, but understand not; and see you indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,” Isaiah 6:8-11
The Lord told Isaiah to go and tell the people. God said they would indeed hear but would not understand. Yes, they would see but still, they would not perceive. Instead of understanding, their hearts would be hardened.
Then, as now, the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, is foolishness to those who are perishing. Seeing, they too see not. Hearing, they too hear not…and neither do they understand.
“Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.” Matthew 13:13
So how long, Lord? …until the land be utterly desolate. Preach the Word. Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that the LORDS house may be filled. The religious will be religious. Their hearts will be made fat, their ears heavy and their eyes will shut but the Lord is at the door knocking bidding those who hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to the churches to come into HIS House…come unto Him and forsake their religious rites.
The Cross of Christ is not foolishness unto us who are Saved. It is there, at Calvary’s Cross, that the Power of God was and is manifest unto His People…to those who would hear His bidding and come.
Recognize how your heart is affected by the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Does it harden? Is it foolishness? Do your eye get heavy? If you answered yes, you are perishing my friend. You are one who the Lord is speaking of to Isaiah. The condition of our heart is affected by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Prayerfully consider your hearts reaction.
“17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are Saved it is the Power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” 1 Corinthians 1:17-19
How long? Until the Lord destroys the wisdom of the wise and their land laid utterly in waste, preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
