The Sacrificial, Atoning Work of Christ Jesus is the foundation of the Gospel. It is Who HE is (the only begotten Son of God; God manifest in the flesh) and what HE did (paid the penalty of sin for the believing sinner and break the power of sin for the Saint) that sets the captives free. The power of sin is laid waste under the power of the Cross of Christ.
As glorious as the Resurrection of our Lord is, it is not where sin’s penalty nor power was paid. Knowing Who Jesus is and what He has done, there is no question to His Resurrection. Jesus Christ is alive today. He is sitting at the Right Hand of the Throne of God. His eyes search the earth to and fro for those whose hearts are perfect toward Him.
The devil, being the devil, corrupts this message and deceives God’s people. The purpose of this deceit is to move one’s faith from the Cross of Christ and to another object. This “new” object of our faith seems good. It is cloaked in Scripture and declared from the pulpits but it’s object is “self” and it’s means is “will”. We are often zealous of the things of the Lord but do not know the way…we do not know it is the same faith in the Sacrificial, Atoning Work of Christ that Saves us also will keep us; keeps us in His Will and in His Ways as the Holy Spirit superintends the work of God in our hearts. It is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to expel that which is not of God. It is the Holy Spirit alone Who has the power to isolate our sin nature which allows us to live for God. Without our sin nature isolated, fallen man is unable to live for God…no matter our will power or abilities. With our sin nature isolated, we still have to choose to live for God. Our path’s are directed and righteously divided by the Lord and we choose which way to go.
If it’s not the Cross of Christ Jesus being preached from the pulpit for Salvation and daily living for God, it is another Gospel. The Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified is for the sinner and the Saint. It continues to draw the lost and the found to Holiness and Righteousness.
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God. Be determined to know nothing else among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
“5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
