WHY ARE YOU FEARFUL?

“23 And when He was entered into a ship, His Disciples followed Him.

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but He was asleep.

25 And His Disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26 And He said unto them, Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith? Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.” Matthew 8:23-26

The Disciples who followed Jesus into the ship had to first deny themselves. Some where fisherman, some were doctors and others accountants but they had to first deny their intellectual abilities; their knowledge of the worldly system in order to pick up their cross (the ability to be called His Disciple) and follow Jesus.

Once they had done all of this, the storms began to rage causing them to depend on their intellectual abilities to survive the storm. This is where many Believers are today. We have laid our cross down and have decided to depend on instead of deny our abilities, intellect and talents.

Jesus is still in the boat but we haven’t called upon His Name as we maneuver through the storm. He’s patiently waiting; He’s watching for our hearts to turn back to Him. He and He alone can calm the storms. At Calvary, He laid waste death, hell and the grave. The penalty of sin was paid and the power of sin broken when Jesus Christ uttered the words “It is Finished”. The Born Again Believer has the Savior of the world in our boat. Call on Him.

“23 And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it.” Luke 9:23-24
