The Lord has His ways of provoking you to do something and many times it may not be at your convenience. It’s 11:41 pm where I am. I actually went to bed around 10:00 pm with something on my heart. I was thinking “I will write about this in the morning” and drifted off to sleep. Then, all of a sudden, I was abruptly awakened by a loud “boom”. Literally! I looked outside and around…not real sure from where the “boom” came. Well….I guess I’m kind of sure.
There was a strong burden placed on my heart a little less than a year ago. Please understand when I say burden, I don’t mean that as a complaint. The Lord will place something on your heart for an instruction or direction; it’s a blessing….but sometimes we miss it. Beware, when you do He may wake you up with a big “boom”! (insert smiley face)
The other day I wrote on how we all need the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The full measure of the Holy Spirit. The Fire that ignites; the staying Power that conquers our sin nature. The sacrifice of ourselves for the fire of the Lord. I have never been able to communicate that desire for others to have that fire without fear of offending someone. We must recognize the Holy Spirit does not recognize denominational lines. We, as Christians, make up the Body of Christ. So no matter what denomination you may be, if you are on fire for the Lord – Hallelujah! And I mean that most sincerely. Please understand though, this message isn’t for you. If this message isn’t for you, I cannot apologize. If it convicts you or witnesses to you then praise the Lord!
In my post yesterday, https://livinginthespirit.net/2014/09/17/open-the-floodgates/ , I put a short little verse from Revelations 3:22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” But you see, I missed it. Originally, I had Revelations 3:14-22 in my post but I edited it. I was scared it was too harsh. I was scared I may offend someone. Verses 14-22 are tough.
Well, it turns out I had a warning shot that I didn’t notice, a “small boom” if you will. It was a little more gentle than being awakened from a deep sleep with a loud boom! Tonight I went to a revival. The evangelist was passionately preaching the Word of God. God was using Him in a mighty way. Everyone in the congregation could hardly contain themselves – they were ready to burst into fire. He was pleading for us, the Body of Christ, to quit closing the door on the Holy Spirit. The pastor was preaching on Revelations 3:14-22 (insert small boom). You see, God isn’t just talking to Donna in small town Alabama. The same Spirit, the Holy Spirit, is witnessing to all God’s children the same message, yet I was scared to write it down. He’s knocking on the door….
Rev. 3:14-22 “These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: ‘I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ “
As for me, I am a work in progress. I’m learning to discern God’s voice and receive His confirmations. Even though I will try not to, I may miss again. However, I can promise you this – I will not be afraid of offending someone with the Word of God again. If He anoints me to write it, He has anointed someone to receive it. A willing vessel must be willing. I believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe that above all else the Lord wants us to prosper and be in good health, just as our soul prospers (3 John 1:2). But I also believe “…the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. ” Hebrews 4:12. We can’t just preach on the “good parts” all of the time. Praise God, there is a Heaven… but there is also a Hell. We’ve got to start eating meat eventually and if you choke on it like me, He will gently serve you another bite and if you don’t take that bite then…boom! He will wake you up to feed it to you. Good night! – Donna Warren
