Power of God

“For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.  For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:17-18.

Many times when I’m talking to other Christians and begin to talk about faith in Jesus and what He did for us on the Cross, I can literally see their eyes begin to glass over.  I have had others tell me “there is more to it than the Cross of Jesus”.  They believe in Jesus for their Salvation but or their spiritual growth and sanctification, they are quickly directed to schemes of man.  satan’s seducing spirits quickly begin seducing the new convert to their religion.  The flesh loves taking personality tests, completing questionnaires and learning all about themselves.  The motto is me and the motive is money.  How can they, the religious, now convert the new convert’s attention away from the power of God, which is the Cross of Christ? By keeping them busy and distracted.  Any of this sound familiar to anyone else?

Once our faith is shifted from what Jesus has done and our new religion is all about us, our sin nature begins to reign and rule.  The Holy Spirit has no longer isolated the sin nature because our faith is no longer in Jesus and His finished work on the Cross.

So while I’m talking to them about Jesus and His finished work, their eyes begin to glass over because their problems are overwhelming them and all I want to talk about is Jesus….HELLO.

“Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.” Matthew 25:28-29.

Light rejected is light taken and given to the one who has an abundance of light.  Don’t reject the preaching of the Cross of Jesus, it is still the power of God…no matter how long you have been saved.  Recognize the seducing spirits that attempt to take our focus off of Jesus and place it on ourselves.  “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:2. – Donna Clark Warren

Alive Unto God

“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto Salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17.

Yesterday my husband and I were downtown on a shuttle.  As we drove around town I observed the people walking up and down the streets, some were on their phones talking, others had their ear bobs in staring at their phones, while others were purposefully going from point A to point B.   Of course I don’t know any of these people but I wondered their spiritual condition.  Are any of them “spiritually alive unto God through Jesus Christ” (Romans 6:11) or are they unable to worship the Lord?

I use to get upset with people for not recognizing or giving God the glory for their blessings until I realized they cannot…literally.  “Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.” 1 Cor. 12:3.  Someone who is spiritually dead unto God has their free will and they have either rejected Jesus as their Saviour or have not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.   In either case, unless they choose to believe in Jesus and what He did for them on Calvary’s Cross, they will forever remain spiritually dead and will die the second death. “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”  Revelations 20:14.

While we may think we have our free will, satan can actually overtake our free will but the Lord is a Gentleman and allows us to choose Him.  It is only by the grace of God that satan does not overtake our free will completely as an unbeliever.   The Word of God tells us over and over that God will be our God, wants to be our God and has made a way for Him to be our God through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ…yet we continue to do it our way instead of God’s Way.  “For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” Isaiah 41:13.

This downward spiral the world seems to be taking is sucking the sand out from under the glass churches, I mean houses.  The very ones who have been rubbing shoulders with those who are spiritually dead instead of stepping on their toes are going to have to make a decision.  They have been trying to show the world “their Jesus” without ever mentioning His name so as not to offend.  I have news for the social gospels, while you are out flaunting “your Jesus” to the world, the world can’t tell any difference in you and them so they think they are okey dokey while remaining on their broad path to hell.  If your Jesus doesn’t line up with the Jesus of the Bible, you have another Jesus.  The Word of God says to go out and “…preach deliverance to the captives…” (Luke 4:18).

If the Gospel you are ministering does not lift up the name of Jesus, what He did and Who He is, the spiritually dead remain dead and they cannot proclaim Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.  “…I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto Salvation to every one that believeth..” Romans 1:16.  This Gospel we have been given by Jesus Christ is about Him, not us.  This is not a show we have to put on to the world, it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ we are suppose to declare.  Are you ashamed?  -Donna Clark Warren

Sinless Perfection or Sinning Salvation

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” 1 Cor. 15:52-53

It is not the will of God for the Believer to live in constant defeat.  Sin, repent, sin, repent is not the victory Jesus afforded us on Calvary’s Cross.  Will we sometimes fail the Lord? Sadly, yes.  We are not yet glorified, but being sanctified through our continued faith in the work of Jesus Christ and what He did, not our self efforts.  The corruptible will not put on incorruption until that last trump of God.

However, that does NOT mean the Lord has granted us a sinning Salvation.  It simply means that Jesus, “…having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”  It means, Jesus Christ defeated sin and made a mockery of satan and his minions on the Cross…the same sin some are still in bondage to or others willing yield to.  It is there, at the point of decision, that the rubber meets the road.  A born again Christian, hates their sin as much as they hate other’s sin.  They sin and repent, sin and repent and never maintain the victory our Lord Jesus Christ died for them to have.   They are willingly yielding to the sin but hate the sin.

“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.  For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.  Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.” Romans 7:18-20.

Just to be clear, if you have rationalized your sin, condoned your sin or think it is okay to sin…get saved.  If the Word of God says it is a sin, it is a sin no matter what your church, your pastor or your buddy tells you and it is not “ok”.  God has already judged sin and the wages of sin is death.  Jesus came and paid our sin debt and gave us victory over sin so we could go and sin no more, not to give us a license to sin.

So, was the Apostle Paul not a born again Believer?  Of course he was.  Was he not struggling in Romans chapter 7 with many of the same things other Christians struggle with today?  Let us not dismiss this because we, as Christians, are too proud to admit we are in bondage to our sin nature.  It has dominion over us and as soon as we mention our “problem”, instead being directed to the Cross of Jesus for deliverance we are either sent to a 12 step program or kindly told we need to find another church.  All of this depends on which school of doctrine we come from, sinless perfection or sinning salvation.    We don’t want to admit those 40 days, 21 days  or 12 steps didn’t deliver us from our struggle.

“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” Galatians 5:17.

All I’m trying to tell you, my brothers and sisters in Christ, is that there IS deliverance from that bondage.  The ONLY antidote to sin is the Cross of Jesus.  It is not our fault we were born with this sin nature, or this seed of sin due to Adam’s fall, but it is our fault if we do not admit/confess we have this sin nature and reject the antidote…Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2.

If you are a born again, Blood bought Believer in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the Cross but remain in bondage to sin, whether it be a “physical” sin that you have to hide from others or something other’s cannot see, such as jealousy, envying and strife, there is deliverance for you at Calvary’s Cross through Jesus Christ.  Take your faith and focus off of yourself and your struggles and place them squarely at the foot of the Cross.  As long as you try to control it, fight it or overcome it in your flesh, your result will always without a doubt end in failure…again (sin, repent, sin, repent).  I am speaking here of all of those “programs” the churches now offer to overcome the sin that Jesus has already defeated, which are in fact the cause of these repeated failures of the Child of God.  Instead of faith in Jesus for deliverance of this bondage, your faith has now been directed to your works, albeit with all sincerity.  The devil has done what he has purposed to do, deceived you into believing you can have victory over sin by doing steps 1 through 12.  This is not the Power of God but the power of man and will conclude in failure.

Knowing that Jesus came to pay our sin debt AND give us victory over our sin nature (Salvation and sanctification) and that our Salvation is by Grace through faith in Jesus, lest any man should boast (Eph. 2:8), how then do we suppose our sanctification, or our victory over sin, should come any other way as well…through Grace by faith in Jesus and His finished work.  Our victory is NOT maintained by grace through faith in OUR works (12 steps, 40 days, etc.) but faith in Jesus and His finished work.

If you want to make an excuse for your sin, that is between you and God.  If you want to deny that you still have a sin nature, that is between you and God as well.  Furthermore, if you want victory over your sin nature, that too is between you and God…and it is still in the Cross of Jesus and His finished work.  Deliverance from sin, dominion and power over our sin nature, comes through Jesus and what He did…seek Him.  – Donna Clark Warren.

The Sin

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” Romans 6:11-12

As I have stated before, the term sin in Romans chapter 6 is a noun.  In the Greek it has the definite article “the” before the word sin.  Here is a link to Strong’s Greek Linear if you are interested, Romans 6 Strong’s Greek Linear . It is the word number 3588.  As we see in Romans 6:12, we should not obey “it” in the lusts thereof.

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do….” John 8:44.  Before we are born again, we are unable to yield ourselves unto God.  God has given us a free will that He will not overrule, but satan does not offer the same courtesies.  Even as an unbeliever, it is the grace of God that keeps satan from destroying them, all in hopes they will choose Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and accept the life He came to freely give them.  However, until they do freely choose to accept Jesus, the unbeliever is spiritually dead to God.

When the Holy Spirit begins to press on our heart and the Light of God’s presence exposes the depravity of our flesh and we cry out on the name of Jesus Christ, the Lord comes and takes the debt and power of sin away by force.  Jesus Christ snatches us from satan’s grip and suddenly all things become new and we are a new creature in Christ Jesus.  Jesus Christ paid our wages of sin and gave us victory over that seed of sin in us on Calvary’s Cross.

However, that seed of sin given to each and every individual since the fall of Adam is not removed but cut off upon our Salvation by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  We are now, through the power of the Holy Spirit, cut off from the root of the sin and enabled to yield to God.  Before our Salvation, we were slaves to the sin and could not help but obey it’s lusts.  For us to believe we could overcome the lusts of our sin , there would have been no reason for Jesus’ finished work on the Cross.  If our depraved flesh could have victory over the seed of sin, the Cross of Christ was in vain.

With our faith based solely and completely on Jesus’ victory over death and sin, the Holy Spirit continues to isolate that seed of sin.  The monarch remains dethroned.  “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:21.   As soon as we begin to fight the sin in our own efforts and will, we have engaged it and not the Lord for our deliverance.  The only fight the Believer is commissioned to fight is the good fight of faith, not the sin, not the demons behind the sin that have already been defeated, but the fight of faith being solely on Jesus Christ’s victory over sin and look to Him for deliverance.

I understand that some Believer’s have victory and am thankful to God.  Many times we see people who proclaim to be a Christian but are no more born again than the devil himself.  We all know the ones, they can be found in the barstools at happy hour and the pew for motivational hour.  I’m not speaking of the people who are looking to soothe their conscience but the ones who are seeking deliverance from their bondage.  The ones who are a born again Christian, who love Jesus Christ with all of their heart but cannot maintain victory over the sin.  The sin has dominion over them rather than them having dominion over the sin.  They hate their own sin as much as they do other’s sin.  Instead of judging these who are trying to maintain victory through the methods of man, why not tell them from where their deliverance came, through Jesus Christ and His finished work on the Cross and in the meantime, seek deliverance from the dominion of your own sin which  manifests itself in religion, spiritual pride and self righteousness.  – Donna Clark Warren

Friends of the World

“Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.  Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” James 4:2-4

The sin nature is the “sin” spoken of in Romans chapter 6.  In the original Greek, sin (in Romans chapter 6) is a noun and not a verb.  What we think of as sin (the verb) is the manifestation of the sin nature’s (the noun) dominion in our life.   Until we are born again, the sin nature is the reigning monarch in our life, whether we care to admit such or not.  If we could have victory over our sin nature as an unbeliever, there would be no reason for the Cross of Jesus.  Upon our Salvation and we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, the Holy Spirit comes and dethrones the reigning monarch (the sin nature) in our life.  We are now dead to the sin nature but it is not dead.  It is the sin nature that the enemy tries to tempt but as long as our faith is in Jesus and what He did on the Cross to break the power of our sin nature, the Holy Spirit remains on the throne in our heart and will deliver us from that temptation.  As soon as we begin to engage the enemy, instead of Jesus  for victory over sin, our dominion over sin begins to diminish.  The Holy Spirit can only empower our victory over our sin nature when our faith is based solely on Jesus Christ and Him crucified and not any part of our self efforts.  “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2.

The symptom or the manifestation of the dominion of our sin nature is sin, the verb.  Far too many Believers can only see the sin of the flesh without ever realizing their own sin of self righteousness and pride.  Pride in piety is not humility but pride.  The world will tell us that we are inherently good on the inside and it is our environment which affects our condition.  While the Word of God tells us we are inherently evil because of the seed of the sin nature given to us from Adam’s fall that affects our condition.

The “adulterers and adulteresses” in James 2:4, refers to Believers who resort to psychology or other methods of man for victory over their sin nature instead of faith in Jesus and His finished work.  The church today is chock full of adulterers and adulteresses who leave the Cross of Christ after Salvation for 12 steps, 40 days, 100 days or 21 days of “sanctification” to help them over come the symptom of the dominion of their sin nature – sin.  Their self efforts frustrate the Grace of God and their sin nature begins to reign again.  Religion is the worst bondage of all and will quickly lead the Believer down the path of defeat and destruction of their faith.

We ask and we receive not because we ask amiss.  We pray and seek God for our will and not His will.  We declare and decree things that God has no part of but is mere presumption on our part.

“Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The Spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?  But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” James 4:5-6.

The Holy Spirit WANTS to do what He was sent to do in our lives, give us dominion over our sin nature (Romans 8:2) but He cannot do so unless our faith remains in Jesus’ finished work.  If you are a Believer and remain in bondage to the sin nature, quit fighting the fight the Lord has already won.  The only fight we are commissioned to fight is the good fight of faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified, not faith that “we” can overcome.  Not faith that “greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4), even so we believe and know such is true to the highest degree possible, He (the Holy Spirit) is not commissioned to do His mighty work in our lives with our faith placed in Him but only in Jesus.  When we look to the Holy Spirit, He is going to point us to the Cross of Jesus and what He did there… He will guide us into all Truths and He shall not speak of Himself (John 16:13).    The Holy Spirit is jealous over the adulterers and adulteresses faith in methods of man to overcome sin and He will not and cannot  empower our self will but only God’s will with faith in Jesus.  Don’t be too proud to return to the faith in the Cross of Jesus instead of methods of man for victory over our sin nature.  We all still have a sin nature, it is just a matter of who has dominion.  Does the sin nature have dominion over us or does God’s Divine Nature in us have dominion over it (the sin nature)?   It doesn’t matter if you’ve been a Christian 5 days or 50 years, without faith maintained in Jesus and His finished work, you aren’t fighting the good fight but a losing battle.  – Donna Clark Warren

Do Ye Now Believe?

“For the Father Himself loveth you, because ye have loved Me, and have believed that I came out from God. 28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. 29 His disciples said unto Him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. 30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask Thee: by this we believe that Thou camest forth from God. 31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? 32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave Me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:27-33.

So do ye now believe?  If tribulation takes away your peace, ye may in fact not believe.   Spiritual blindness cannot be revealed intellectually but only by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” Luke 4:18.   Please notice the Scripture says to “preach” deliverance to the captives and not to “deliver” the captives.  It does not say lay hands on them and they will be delivered, although the laying on of hands is a valid and Scriptural Doctrine in certain situations.  If someone doesn’t understand victory over the sin nature afforded us at Calvary’s Cross, then they certainly can’t believe something they do not understand.  If deliverance, the Truth of the Word of God through faith in Jesus, Who He is and What He has done, isn’t preached behind the pulpit,  all the Believer truly understands is hands were laid on them or Anointing Oil was poured on them and they were still not delivered which will always and without fail result in their faith failing.  Their sin nature continues to have dominion over them because they don’t understand their deliverance came on Calvary’s Cross through Jesus Christ…not through the Anointing Oil or the laying on of hands.  Now please understand this, you may understand the Anointing Oil and the laying on of hands is completely sound, Scriptural doctrine, in which I also believe.  However, what I’m trying to express, albeit poorly, that the Believer may not understand from where their deliverance came 2000+ years ago if the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified is not proclaimed.  40 days of purpose, shemitahs and blood moons hasn’t delivered a single soul…only Jesus Christ delivered us from the dominion of our sin nature, preach Him.

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious Blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 21 Who by Him do believe in God, that raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.” 1 Peter 1:18-21.

God’s children are indeed being destroyed by lack of knowledge.  Deliverance is not being preached but practiced through the schemes of man, vain conversations and traditions.  “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to Me: …” Hosea 4:6.  If the foundation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified is not built on Jesus Christ and Him crucified it is another gospel.  If the captives are to be set free PREACH deliverance to them instead of trying to deliver them.  The power of God is in the Cross of Jesus and it is there that the bondages were destroyed.  It is only with the Believer’s faith in Jesus and what He has done, that the Holy Spirit is commissioned to operate (Romans 8:2).  Even the most Scriptural doctrines being practiced will not deliver the captive if deliverance, the Truth, is not preached.  Again, I ask you, do ye now believe?  – Donna Warren

Tongues of Men and Angels

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.   And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.   And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:1-4.

Jesus prophesied “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17-18.

So many don’t believe tongues is for today.  Some go as far to say that praying in tongues is of the devil.  While others don’t understand the difference in the gift of tongues and Baptism in the Holy Spirit with evidence of praying in tongues as in Acts 2:4.  Baptism of the Holy Spirit  is a separate experience from the initial Salvation experience.

  • “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:” Matthew 3:11
  • “For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” Acts 1:5.

If you do not believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, that is between you and God…not you and me.  As for me, it is too late to tell me any different.  I am Saved by the Blood of Jesus Christ and Baptized in the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues.  However, don’t misunderstand that statement, I’m not any more saved than someone who is not Baptized in the Holy Spirit.  At Salvation, we are Baptized into Jesus; into the Body of Christ.

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.  And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3.   It is entirely possible for backslidden Christians who “have not charity (love)”  to continue praying in tongues.  Someone asked me what language I spoke.  I don’t know, according to this it is of “men and of angels”.

Because there are apostate and backslidden teachers and preachers who pray in tongues, this does not mean that praying in tongues is of the devil.  “So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.” Ecc. 2:9.  King Solomon, although backslidden, retained his God given wisdom just as many backsliders today maintain their God given tongues.

If we are going to dismiss tongues, we are going to also have to dismiss the rest of the Great Commission of casting out demons and laying hands on the sick (Mark 16:17-18).  In 1 Corinthians 14:18, “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:” Paul boasts of his ability to speak in tongues.  However, he continues on to admonish the Corinthians in verse 26 that even very good things can be used in the wrong way and that there is a time and place for everything.  “How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.”

As I wrote yesterday, satan will raise a counterfeit.  There will those who are backslidden that continue to pray in tongues as in 1 Cor. 13:1-3 but I beseech you Brothers and Sisters in Christ, please be careful when calling things of God  as if they were from satan all because of satan’s counterfeit…this is the devil’s purpose.  If you don’t believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, it is your right to believe as you wish.  However, please be careful of calling those of us who do “babblers’ and demon possessed.  I do not say this because it is offensive to me, even though it may be, but because calling something of God as if it is something of satan is dangerous territory and I worry about your soul.

If you are interested in more information on Baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, please visit Baptism in the Holy Spirit .  If you are interested in arguing or debating this, I am not interested.  Please prayerfully consider before attacking.  Just because one does not believe or understand, doesn’t change the Truth of the Word of God.  Seek His Truth through His Word and His Holy Spirit…not mine or anyone else.  – Donna Clark Warren

Discern the Seed

“But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.   For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.   Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”  2 Corinithians 11:12-15

The fact of the matter is, if someone has no interest in the things of the Lord Jesus Christ, Who He is and what He has done, they are merely using the Lord for their own personal gain.  No, not everyone is called to be an Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Preacher or a Teacher but every Child of God is called to live a holy and fruitful life.  satan can imitate all things this side of Heaven except for sanctification. The devil’s fruit, his “sanctifying”  will always lead to death.

“But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:3-5.   From the day Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, Adam lived 900+ more years but it was 900+ years of spiritual death.  Mankind was not created spiritually dead but was deceived by satan who appealed to Eve’s flesh (“pleasant to the eyes”  vs. 6) and to her pride (“shall be as gods”).  Adam and Eve were immediately conscious of their guilt.   Thus the seed of sin was planted in your life and mine.

“(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the Cross of Christ:  Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” Phillipians 3:18-21.

The seed of sin IN us, which remains in us, the leaven that leavens this lump of flesh, was put ON  (not in) Jesus Christ who paid the wages of sin to God (not satan) on Calvary’s Cross.  “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23.  However, Jesus not only satisfied our sin debt but He also gave us dominion over our sin nature (Romans 6:6) which is the seed of sin from Adam’s fall.

Some would argue that the seed of sin is removed upon our Salvation which is not so.  We are sanctified, not glorified upon our Salvation.  We are given power over that seed when the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our heart and isolates that seed.  “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2.  As long as our faith is placed in Jesus and what He did on the Cross, the Holy Spirit is commissioned to do the work He is sent by God to do, which is to give us victory over our sin nature and lead us into all Truths of the Word of God.  The Holy Spirit will always point us to the Cross of Jesus for victory over sin, not to His power.  He (the Holy Spirit) has no power in the Believer’s life to give them victory if the Believer doesn’t believe properly…faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified is the only faith the Holy Spirit is commissioned to endorse, not faith in our self will or efforts.  “For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the Power of God.” 1 Cor. 1:18.   The power of God is in the Cross of Jesus.

Always discern the seed of the fruit.  The fruit may appeal to the lust of the flesh or the pride of man but if it leads to death, it is not of God.  The devil has a counterfeit for everything this side of Heaven except sanctification.  Sanctification requires continued faith, the same faith you came into Salvation on.  There are many false teachers who are preaching against the things of God because of satan’s counterfeit.  This is why we should all pray for discernment.  It is extremely dangerous to call something that is of God as if it is from satan.   These false teachers,  who because of satan’s counterfeit work, reject God’s work as well, show a great  lack of discernment .  The devil raised his counterfeit, some took a bite and now those without discernment are calling evil good and good evil.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20.  These are perilous days we live in but the Lord has given each and every Child of God the Holy Spirit to guide us into all Truths according to the Word of God.  If you are seeking God’s Truth, His Spirit will quicken our mortal bodies (Romans 8:11) and His Truth will line up with His Word.  The Lord did not leave us out in this world to flounder around until we meet Him in glory.  He has given us His Word AND His Holy Spirit to guide us into all Truths when our faith is properly placed on Jesus Christ and His finished work.  satan knows God’s Word better than most of us but he is still satan and he will twist God’s Word to deceive the brethren.  However, praise be to God, we have the Holy Spirit and with our faith in Jesus Christ, He WILL quicken our spirit and we will line up with the Word of God as He (the Holy Spirit) gives us power over our sin nature and we are able to discern between the counterfeit and the Holy.  Pray for discernment. – Donna Clark Warren

The Religious Parasite

“For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” 2 Cor. 11:4.

The Apostle Paul makes no hesitation in rebuking the Corinthians for tolerating false apostles who had come in preaching another gospel.  The false teachers ,then and now, are the religious parasites whose doctrines do not lead one to Salvation but will immediately after Salvation lead the new converts away from where their victory over their sin nature is found, through faith in the Cross of Jesus.  These baby Christians are suddenly taught how to “gain” victory through “good works”.  They are given a curriculum of sorts to choose the class that best suits their particular lifestyle; singles, marrieds, recovery, professionals, etc….all of these given to show the new convert how to live the Christian life.  Doesn’t this sound fun?   Suddenly, the liberty that is felt upon Salvation becomes starved and one bondage is replaced for another.  Only this time it is this very shallow joy, the kind that is literally only surface deep.  From the outside looking in at the particular situation, it  hasn’t changed much but they are convinced “that’s okay”.  The victory once sought has now become the survival lived.  The victory we were told of at Salvation was never “gained” but it now has a nice shade of lipstick, a little sugar coating a lots of  new friends from our core curriculum to comfort one another.

The problem with the religious parasites is they fail to mention it is not a matter of gaining victory but it is a matter of maintaining victory.  Notice I say victory, as in victory over our sin nature, not Salvation.  The only way we can maintain victory is by maintaining our faith in Jesus and what He has done on Calvary’s Cross. The parasites will quickly deliver a gospel about who you are and what you must do, instead of who Jesus is and what He has done.  This is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified but indeed another gospel resulting in another Jesus.  When we know what Jesus has done to give us eternal life and dominion over our sin nature and reckon it to be true, we also reckon ourselves to be dead to sin as well.  When we reckon we don’t have to “gain” that victory because of what Jesus has done, the Holy Spirit will isolate or dethrone the reigning monarch, our sin nature, which will in turn enable us to live unto God and “maintain” the victory Jesus has already given us.  We don’t fight for the victory, we fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:12) – faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified and HE will give us the victory.

“For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God.  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:10-11.

Are you tolerating false teachers?  If so, Paul says you might well bear with them.  Worse yet, are you paying your tithes and offerings to these false teachers?  The Word of God says to give to the work of the Lord.  Are these false teachers who direct God’s children away from Him and His finished work and point them to schemes of man to “gain” victory over their bondage, working for the Lord?  A parasite benefits at the expense of it’s host.

There is a joy unspeakable; there is a peace which surpasses all understanding and it all comes through Jesus Christ.  He will give you all of these things and more but you have to believe; you have to settle it in your heart and reckon it to be so…Jesus Christ has already gained the victory.  Don’t be scared to have faith in Jesus to break the bondages and maintain victory over our sin nature, that is the only way you will have the deliverance in which you seek…faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified.   – Donna Clark Warren

The Vail of Moses

“And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the Old Testament; which vail is done away in Christ.  But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.  Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Cor. 3:13-18.

The Law of Moses was meant to be and was fulfilled by Jesus.  It is in Him, Jesus, that we are changed into the likeness of Him with the vail then removed and the Lord’s glory  revealed.   The glory no longer fades but grows stronger.   The Law was not meant to be fulfilled by us, if we could fulfill the Law, Jesus’ Sacrifice was in vain.  Every feast, every ceremony and every Sacrifice was a type and shadow of the Lord Jesus Christ.  The vail was taken away in Christ Jesus, yet there remain many who fail to see and choose to remain under the vail of ritual and ceremony.  Jesus satisfied the curse of the Law by fulfilling the Law and dying on the Cross.

Even when done with the uttermost sincerity, the results remain the same when we place ourselves under the Law and not Grace.  When under Law, our faith is always and without fail placed on that law and not Jesus’ finished work and it is there that our sin nature is given dominion.  The Holy Spirit cannot endue one with power who has faith in their own self efforts and not Jesus (Romans 8:2).  Our little effort that we add to obtain that righteousness is that leaven that will leaven the whole lump and it is called pride and self righteousness.

The only Truth is through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.  It is there, the same place we came in to Salvation, that the Holy Spirit is commissioned to guide us into all Truths, not some Truths but all Truths.  “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all Truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.” John 16:13.   Any “truth” found in our self efforts, feasts, festivals, 40 days and 12 steps is not Truth but deceit.

satan will not and cannot usurp the power of the Holy Spirit when our faith is placed on Jesus Christ but he, satan, can usurp our misguided efforts.  This is not a matter of gaining victory over our sin nature but maintaining victory over our sin nature.  Victory was given to us the day we were born again.  If the Lord has delivered you from the “worldly” sins (drinking, fornication, adultery, etc.) don’t allow satan to seduce you over to the “religious” sins of self righteousness and pride through misguided faith.  Just because one’s sin is “religious” and the other’s is “worldly” doesn’t change the fact that it is sin.

The Law was not meant for us to fulfill.  It was to show us our inability to fulfill the requirements to obtain righteousness.  Jesus Christ came to fulfill the Law and it is not until we look to Him and have faith in Him that the vail is lifted.  Once that vail is lifted and our eyes are opened to the glory of the Lord, there is no looking back to any form of Law or type and shadow of Jesus.  If you choose to observe the feasts and call Jesus Yahweh instead of Jesus, that is your decision.  If you call me by my Hebrew name, you are still talking about “me”.  The Word of God is about Jesus Christ, who He is and what He has done and if the majority of the church will start studying His Word instead of traditions, they too will find Jesus….He is at the door knocking.  – Donna Clark Warren
