Cunning Craftiness

cunning craftiness13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;” Ephesians 4:13-14

When Truth, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, is set aside by the Believer after Salvation and they begin to walk in this “new way” to live a victorious Christian life, they eventually find themselves leading a defeated Christian life.  Sadly, many of these walk away from God believing the Lord does not love them and that they must not be “good enough” because of their repeated failures.  All the while, we have this other banner of professing Christianity declaring they must not have been saved in the first place because they remained in their sin.

The fact of the matter is, what has happened to this Believer, if in fact they were truly born again and not seduced by religion into a false Salvation, is religion has placed a millstone around their neck.  This “new way” to live a victorious Christian life has caused these babes in Christ to abandon the Bible way.  Jesus Christ and HIS atoning work on Calvary’s Cross has been tossed aside for dominion over the world the flesh and the devil and accountability, social justice, assessments and win-win situations have replaced Grace…God’s Grace which gives us dominion over sin (Romans 6:14).

The devil cannot defeat Biblical Christianity which is Grace by faith for our Salvation and Grace by faith for our Sanctification…our victorious Christian living. We have a Comforter, the Holy Spirit, Who will guide us into all Truths when our faith is placed in the atoning work of Jesus Christ…not our “new way” which is nothing more than various philosophies of man from the vanities of their minds.  No matter how religious or Scriptural these philosophies may sound – Jesus Christ and His atoning work is the only answer for sin.  The Holy Spirit is not commissioned to free us from the law of sin and death, which gives us dominion over sin, when our faith is in this “new way” (Romans 8:2).

The devil cannot defeat Biblical Christianity, so he attempts to corrupt Biblical Christianity.  Recognize when religion begins presenting “new ways” to lead a victorious Christian life.  These new ways are nothing more than satan’s attempt to corrupt our faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ which breaks the power of sin in the Believer’s life.  This is satan’s job; it’s what he does – he comes to kill, steal and destroy.

The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I (JESUS) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

  1. Hi Donna,

I am having my eyes opened more and more to how “Christian churches” are binding believers up, so they cannot freely interact with one another in a true faith-building kind of way. Many churches are frequently teaching unbiblical things and I have realized even the way they are set up are a hindrance to believers growing a strong faith.

After 30 years of enduring such meetings I have finally stopped attending and am presently feeling better for having reached this point.

“Seduced by religion” is an apt phrase indeed. Many are too afraid to just let it go and to follow the Lord Jesus Christ alone & re-learn how to BE Christians who feed themselves via the Word & the Spirit. They often stay as babes, waiting to be fed tiny teaspoons of whatever kind of food the “man with the microphone” chooses to serve to them.

I am so glad that the Lord still loves and woos His people, that His desire is to help us to grow-up & to be strong in the power of His might, that we are not alone in our struggles.

    God bless you,
    From Helen

    1. Amen Sister! Too many are afraid to let their religion go and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Their fear alone should show them what it is they are truly depending on for their spiritual growth.

My husband often says he had to unlearn so many religious practices that were really nothing more than superstition. As for me, I had only been born again about a year before we were married and thankfully had not learned much of the philosophies. To be frank and honest, I was poor, broke and single and had nothing but the Lord to guide me into His Truth. At the time I certainly didn’t realize or understand. My circumstances were by no means pleasing, but then again, isn’t that when we tend to draw nearer to God? Then when the Lord brought my husband into my life and we both started seeking the Lord and trying to find a church, there was a check in my spirit about some of the things we were learning. I believe I can say there was a check in his spirit as well but he had been around it so much more and ALL the “good Christians” were doing this or that, so he thought it was just him.

The bottom line is, one night when we got our Bible and started reading the Scriptures in context we were amazed at how they had been taken out of context. I’m thankful to God that, just as you said, He never stopped wooing us. There are so many who remain bound and I pray everyday that the Lord will send out His laborers.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and please forgive my long reply…but I pray our testimonies will witness to some who may be in the same circumstances.

      God bless you always!
      In Him,
      Donna
