“¹⁷ For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

¹⁸ For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:17-18

The Cross of Christ shows man what he really is, a sinner.  The Cross of Christ lays waste America’s biggest past time, self help. The preaching of the Cross of Christ is foolishness to those who rely on their self help efforts to succeed.  The part they must “do” which plays them for a fool, they must admit has failed them.  The wisdom of words cloaked with Scripture has made the Cross of Christ of none effect and their faith in the Cross of Christ for Salvation is in danger of failing.

Just a couple of weeks ago my husband witness the destruction of a dear Brother’s faith.  A young man, we watched as he slipped off little by little into Calvinism.  It all sounded good, as false doctrine does, but it was wrong. The Scriptures were twisted, the Cross of Christ was made of none effect and his faith has failed.  In a drunken stupor, he posted a picture of his table with empty beer bottles renouncing Jesus, declaring the Lord as not real.

Yet another young lady my husband and I were friends with on Facebook started slipping off into the Hebraic Roots Movement.  As she was seduced by a doctrine which appealed to her flesh and made her “feel” holy and righteous, sadly she too has renounced Jesus and claims to be a Hebrew.  Remember all my friends who partake in the Hebraic Roots Movement, the Orthodox Jew does not believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah.  This young girl is so deep into that doctrine that she too now believes Jesus Christ is not the Messiah. “Well, I would never renounce Jesus as my Lord and Saviour.” Ok good, praise the Lord for it…Peter.  However, you are being used by the devil as bait for those such as this young girl who are being seduced by the sanctimonious ceremonies.

If we do not believe the Cross of Christ can be made of none effect in the Child of God’s life and living than we have never had the Cross of Christ effective in our life for daily living. Once the power of God has moved in the Believer’s life because of our faith being placed in the Cross of Christ, which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to superintend the necessary work in our heart to bring forth Fruit unto God (Galatians 5:22-23), we understand the effect of the Cross of Christ and we humbly cling to the Source (Jesus) and the means (the Cross) by which we live…Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

” ²⁰ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

²¹ I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” Galatians 2:20-21
