“For all the promises of God in Him(Jesus) are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the Glory of God by us.” 2 Corinthians 1:20
The Promises of God are yes and amen for those who abide in His condition…faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified, Who HE is and what HE has done for whosoever will believe. This condition necessary for God’s Promises to be yes and amen is not a one time event at Salvation but an everyday fight of faith.
The condition of these promises are not to live a holy life and do many good works among the people but to abide in Christ Jesus through faith in His redeeming work to keep us unto the day our faith becomes sight. Abstaining from sin is not a condition of God’s promises but deliverance from sin; it’s power being broken, is a result of God’s promises by abiding in His condition.
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the Law, but under Grace.” Romans 6:14
Sin’s dominion is laid waste when God’s condition for His promises are met. Buried with Christ Jesus into His Death, we are dead unto our sin nature and alive unto God. Our old man is crucified with Christ Jesus so that the body of sin might be destroyed. This destruction of sin is not by and through self-abasement, self effort, willpower, abstinence, intellect or abilities but by the Cross of Christ. We are afforded access to and buried with Jesus through faith that His Work was and is sufficient to break the power of sin which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to do that which He is commissioned to do…draw us, lead us and quicken us unto holiness and righteousness. Just as the Holy Spirit drew us unto Salvation, He will continue drawing us unto Sanctification; creating in us a new creature, not a rehabilitated creature who now has now conquered sin by doing many religious works. That’s not God’s condition for His Promises to be yes and amen.
Many who are born again and alive unto God through faith in the Cross of Christ quickly lose sight of the condition of God’s promises as religion points them to various means and philosophies to obtain these promises. Living a defeated Christian life, producing fruit unto death, they become bitter, discouraged and sadly their faith is often destroyed. God’s promises have not been yes and amen in their lives because His condition has not been met for daily living for God. They are religious but life and life more abundantly had been stolen; peace beyond all understanding has surpassed them and joy unspeakable is a lie they tell themselves daily.
“The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
This life of which we live is given for the Glory of God but is utterly stolen and corrupted by the lies of the devil through religious means given with good intentions to sanctify the Body of Christ. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to produce fruit unto God. Our many good works and good intentions to live a holy life falls shamefully short of the Holiness of Jesus Christ. Look unto Him, Jesus Christ, for that which you ought to be unto God; present yourselves as a living sacrifice unto God, and the Holy Spirit shall quicken your mortal bodies to do that which is holy and acceptable unto God.
“For the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the Law of Sin and Death.” Romans 8:2
In order to receive the Promises of God, we must abide in His condition…faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified, not only for Salvation but for everything that we receive from God – including His Promises.
