“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me (Jesus), because He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” Luke 4:18
Deliverance from the oppression does not come from within. At the mere mention of ‘liberty’ the oppressor tightens the yoke in order to keep the captive bound.
Deliverance from oppression comes from without. At Calvary’s Cross Jesus Christ afforded whosoever will believe deliverance. Bought with a price, His Children have the right and the obligation to offer Him the sacrifice of praise continually…it is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His Holy Name.
“By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His Name.” Hebrews 3:15
I have good news this morning…Jesus Christ came to die on Calvary’s Cross to set the captive free! He is alive and sitting at the Right Hand of the Throne of God searching to and fro for those whose hearts are perfect toward HIM to show Himself strong on their behalf (2 Chron. 16:9).
The devil may walk around as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour but Jesus Christ is looking for the hearts of His Children to show Himself strong; to apply HIS Grace to their weakness that HE may be glorified.
“And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Cor. 12:9
Deliverance does not come from within; it comes from without. Jesus Christ and Him crucified…be determined to know nothing else among you.
