“21 Is the Law then against the Promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the Law.
22 But the Scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For you are all the Children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” Galatians 3:21-27
The Scripture has concluded all under sin. It was given to reveal our true condition and has no power to make us righteous.
Kept under the Law, faith in the coming Messiah was to be revealed before the Cross of Christ Jesus. Jesus came to die on Calvary’s Cross to satisfy the demands of God’s Holy Law. It was there, at Calvary’s Cross, that the Lamb of God was Sacrificed. Perfect and without spot or blemish, the Blood of Christ cut the Everlasting Covenant for those who choose to believe upon Him. Every sin was paid for and put away for those who have been Baptized into His Death.
“3 Know you not, that so many of us as were Baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His Death?
4 Therefore we are buried with Him by Baptism into Death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:3-4
There is no ‘resurrection life’ without the satisfaction offered for the demands of God’s Holy Law, namely Jesus Christ and Him crucified. We can join a church, a denomination; we can get water baptized and profess with our mouths the praises of God but if we are not born again…born of the Spirit of God through faith in the Cross of Christ, there is the demands of God’s Holy Law are not satisfied.
“For by Grace are you Saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
It is God’s Grace that gives us dominion over our sin nature (Romans 6:14) and we are afforded God’s Grace through Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
“Jesus said unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes unto the Father, but by Me.” John 14:6
Once we are Saved; baptized into the Death of Christ Jesus…Born Again; the devil doesn’t stop being the devil but we do have the ability now to submit unto God. Going back under law, any law given by man to overcome the devil, will make the Cross of Christ of no effect. With the Cross of Christ Jesus of no effect in the Believer’s life, God’s Grace is not producing fruit in the Believer’s life and you will indeed know them by their fruit.
“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from Grace.” Galatians 5:4
Recognize the object on your faith. If it is in self will, intellect, talent, etc., there is no offering for the demands of God’s Holy Law and you are not operating under Grace.
“But grow in Grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18
Grow in Grace…be determined to know nothing else save Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
