CATALOGUE OF CALAMITIES

“15 And if you shall despise My Statutes, or if your soul abhor My Judgments, so that you will not do all My Commandments, but that you break My Covenant:

16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague (fever), that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

17 And I will set My Face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and you shall flee when none pursue you.

18 And if you will not yet for all this hearken unto Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your Heaven as iron, and your Earth as brass:

20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.” Leviticus 26:15-20

This Scripture was written to the Israelites…God’s Children who were walking contrary to His Ways. Make no mistake my friend, the Child of God who is not obedient to God’s Word will; those who will not hearken unto His Prescribed Order of Victory through faith in the Cross of Christ Jesus, not only for Salvation but for Sanctification as well, God is against us and not for us.

The Israelites are God’s People, yet He allowed a catalogue of calamities to come upon them for their disobedience. It would do the modern church well to read Leviticus chapter 26. No amount of psychology or positive confession can overtake the power of God when He is against us.

“5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8:5-8

Cloaking those things of the flesh in Scripture does not make them Scriptural. It does however make the Cross of Christ of no effect which in turn brings a catalogue of calamities against us. These calamities are meant for the destruction of our flesh; they are for redemptive purposes. When we as Believers see these calamities coming upon us; the fear, worry, anxiety and stress of every day living, they should serve as a warning signs and we should quickly return to our First Love, Jesus Christ. He will remain on that door knocking to lift us up out of that miry clay if we will only choose this day in whom we are going to believe and walk in HIS Ways and HIS Statutes by faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

The lost cannot do this because they are spiritually dead unto God. They are carnally minded and do mind the things of the flesh. But the Child of God, we who are Born Again, must fight that good fight of faith daily; we must deny ourselves, pick up the blessings Jesus Christ afforded us at Calvary’s Cross and follow Him. The unbeliever cannot follow Him because they cannot deny themselves. Their will power and self will are their only option.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

Seek Him – Seek Him for Who He is and what He has done for whosoever will believe. Be determined to know nothing else among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The victory has been won. Jesus has overcome death, hell and the grave when He gave up the Ghost on Calvary’s Cross. This is God’s Prescribed Order of Victory; this is the only place that God is for us and not against us. The same faith that got us there, keeps us there. Do not be carnally minded. Look unto the Cross of Christ and give the Holy Spirit latitude to do a mighty work in your heart.
