“And now have I (GOD)given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.” Jeremiah 27:6
With the corruption of the Temple; the idol worship and vain rituals which had taken over the Temple, the Lord gave it over to Nebuchadnezzar for destruction.
“11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto Me? says the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
12 When you come to appear before Me, who has required this at your hand, to tread My Courts?
13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto Me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates: they are a trouble unto Me; I am weary to bear them.” Isaiah 1:11-14
The modern church would do well to read these words carefully. As they present methods of man as Biblical doctrine to the people, they have removed the Sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, and replaced His finished work with their own vain oblations. The mere coming to appear before Him and the treading of His courts are for a show of righteousness…self righteousness. With their lips they do worship Him but their hearts are indeed far from Him.
“10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the Truth, that they might be Saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12
Having no regard for the Truth according to the Word of God but for merely the convenience of the lusts of their flesh, they appear weekly in His courts. Carrying the Banner of the Lord yet yoked with the world and it’s ways through the preaching and teaching of humanistic psychology, 40 days of purpose and 21 days of fasting, they bring reproach to His Name and do more to hinder the work of God than they do to further the work of God.
Let me be perfectly clear, if the church is not preaching Jesus Christ and Him crucified, if they are not pointing their people to the Cross of Christ for deliverance from sin…not what they consider sin but what the Word of God has declared sin, they are preaching another gospel and another Jesus. Judgment begins at the House of the Lord. If we don’t worship Him in spirit and in truth, the rocks will cry out. If we don’t declare to a lost world and a dying church that the Cross of Christ Jesus is the only answer to man’s dilemma, who will?
God allowed Nebuchadnezzar to overtake Israel and destroy the Temple because of their disobedience. It would do the modern church well to consider that in which they are preaching. If it’s not Jesus Christ and Him crucified being declared from the pulpit, Nebuchadnezzar awaits. If the modern church won’t lift up the Cross of Christ, the Lord will see to it that there will be nothing left of the modern church to do so…just ask the Israelites. Without the Cross of Christ, there is nothing left.
