First, allow me to begin with things you do not have to do to be Saved. Some of these items are indeed church ordinances but they are NOT requirements for Salvation:
* WATER BAPTISM – No, water baptism is not a requirement of Salvation. While it is an ordinance of the church, it is by no means a requirement of Salvation. All Believers are encouraged to be water baptized but not required.
“5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:5-6
Being born of water speaks of natural child birth, not water baptism. The Baptism into Jesus’ Death, which happens at the Born Again experience when the Holy Spirit baptizes the believing sinner into the Death of Jesus that they too may experience the Resurrection life Jesus afforded whosoever will believe, is the only baptism required for Salvation.
“4 Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His Death, we shall be also in the likeness of His Resurrection:” Romans 6:4-5
* CHURCH MEMBERSHIP – No where in the Bible does it say we must be a member of a church to be Saved. Yes, we must not forsake the fellowship of the Brethren but going through various church classes and becoming a member does not Save the believing Sinner. If such were so, the Cross of Christ was in vain. God forbid NO! Furthermore, if this is indeed the Jesus being lifted up for Salvation at the church then it is another Jesus whose Work was insufficient to Save and from such we should turn away.
“3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.” 2 Cor. 11:3-4
SO, WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?
“12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be Saved.” Romans 10:12-13
Whosoever…and I do mean WHOSOEVER, shall call upon the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, they shall be Saved.
“8 For by Grace are you Saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the Gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Jesus Christ came to die on Calvary’s Cross to pay the penalty of sin for the believing sinner and break the power of sin for the Saint. No matter how the religious twist the Scriptures this simplicity remains. We are Saved by Grace through faith…faith in the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ. He Who came so that we who believe this Truth will not be condemned to a devil’s hell but will be Saved and spend eternity with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
No other Jesus will do. A Jesus who requires anything other than faith in His finished work is another Jesus.
Many are so bound by religion. With their mouths they worship God but their hearts are far from Him. They have chosen another way of Salvation. At the Altar they have brought Cain’s sacrifice…but their remains a Sacrifice at the door knocking. His Name is Jesus, the Sacrificial Lamb of God…the ONLY Sacrifice God will accept for mankind to be Saved.
Have you called upon the Name of the Lord? Do you know Him? Biblical Christianity is not a religion nor is it a church house. We are the temple of God. Biblical Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is knowing in Whom you have believed and reckoning He is fully able to keep that which we have committed unto Him.
Jesus Christ is alive. He is sitting at the Right Hand of the Throne of God searching to and fro for those whose hearts are perfect toward Him. Those hearts may not be perfect. They are in fact deceitful…but He is wanting to show Himself strong in our weaknesses. The Holy Spirit wants to create in you a new creature – not a rehabilitated creature.
All the believing sinner must do to be Saved is believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour. A theology degree is not required for Salvation. Simple belief in Jesus Christ and His finished work and accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour is all that is required for Salvation.
Have you believed?
