“5 For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the Wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not you therefore partakers with them.
8 For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of Light:
9 (For the Fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and Righteousness and Truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Ephesians 5:5-11
Fellowship with God means warfare with the world. The worldly systems of which satan himself rules are always at work against the Kingdom of God. Even those things which seem right are the path unto death (Proverbs 16:25). Just as the serpent beguiled Eve, he continues beguiling the Children of God. Scriptures have been twisted and man made philosophies presented a Biblical doctrine have made the slothful servants ignorant to God’s Word and His People are perishing through lack of knowledge.
We know them by their fruit. Instead of warring against the ways of the world, they are embracing sin and calling it “love”. They are walking in darkness; fellowshipping with the world in order to win the world.
“6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the Truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:6-7
As we have just celebrated the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, far too many Believers have been deceived into thinking their sin is acceptable unto the Lord. No one has stood and contended for the Christian values we have been given in the Word of God and has allowed the Brethren to be overtaken with sin. Jesus Christ came to die on Calvary’s Cross to pay the penalty of sin for the believing sinner and break the power of sin for the believing Saint. The sin which has so easily beset us should be abhorred; not embraced. We need to get down on our knees and ask the Lord for deliverance from that bondage. The Child of God is not to be a servant to satan and if we indeed want to be set free, the Lord is faithful to free us from said sin.
Don’t mistake forgiveness for deliverance. That wickedness in our heart, the Holy Spirit wants to remove. He wants to cut asunder that which is not pleasing unto God but our acceptance of such sin or our faith in our ability to abstain from such sin makes the Power of God of no effect. To be sure, the Cross of Christ IS the Power of God. If we are looking to another way, we are fellowshipping with the world and it’s ways to overcome…and yes, I’m speaking here of humanistic psychology.
The Lord did not Save us IN sin, He Saved us FROM sin. Come out from among them and be ye separate. Touch not the unclean thing. Contend for the faith…faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified – be determined to know nothing else among you.
