“1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.
11 He came unto His own, and His own received him not.
12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His Glory, the glory as of the only Begotten of the Father,) full of Grace and Truth.” John 1:1-14
The light shines in the darkness and the darkness comprehends it not. The born again Believer is to bear witness of that Light. We have been given power through the Blood of Christ Jesus to become a Child of God. This is a legal work which can only be done through the shed Blood of Christ Jesus.
The Cross of Christ IS the power of God for us who believe upon His Name. The light which we bear witness of is not diminish as it is spread but in fact pierces the darkness.
“14 For the Kingdom of Heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.” Matthew 25:14-18
This light we bear witness of to a lost and dying world is not to be hidden…if so, it will be taken away and given to those who have an abundance of light.
“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto Salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Romans 1:16
The Light of the world has come and dwelt among us. Despised and rejected, still He paid our Redemption price that we may be a Child of God. Born again, born of the Spirit of God, we should be bearing witness of His Light and not hiding it in the darkness but exposing the darkness so that others may see the light.
There is power in the Cross of Christ to Save. There is power to Sanctify. Sin shall not have dominion over the Believer. The power of sin was broken at Calvary. It was laid waste; nailed to the Cross when Jesus Christ gave up the Ghost.
Jesus came and dwelt among us but we received Him not. He made a way that we too might be a Child of God…if only we will choose to believe upon His Name.
Have you believed? Do you know the power of God’s Saving Grace? Have you been washed in the Blood of Christ?
Today is the day of Salvation.
