Behold the Lamb of God

BeholdThe next day John sees Jesus coming unto him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world.” John 1:29

Sin is the problem in the world today.  Sickness, depression, addiction, fornication, idolatry, etc., etc. are all the result of sin due to Adam’s fall.  The Word of God does not teach sinless perfection this side of glory.  If that were so, our body would not age (decay) nor get sick.  Corruption will not put on incorruption (1 Corinthians 15:52) until the trump sounds.  Flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.  Sickness may or may not be the result of one’s own sin but nonetheless, sin is the reason for the problems in the world.

There is only one answer to sin and that is the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world – Jesus Christ.   Humanistic psychology can not take away the sin of the world.  21 days of fasting can not take away the sin of the world.  40 days of purpose, feasts, festivals, traditions and ceremonies can not take away the sin of the world.

Sin IS the problem.  There remains a lost and dying world who need to know the Lamb of God will deliver them from their bondages.  However, there also remains Children of God who are bound by nicotine, alcohol, religion, pornography, etc. who love God but they too need to know the Lamb of God will deliver them.  Instead, the modern church presents them with various methods (12 steps, humanistic psychology, fasting, self efforts, self will) to take away their sin.

Behold the Lamb of God, Who takes away our sin.  He stands at the door knocking.

And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

Are you denying self efforts to overcome the sin of the world?  Are you picking up the benefits of the atoning work of Jesus Christ and following Him?  Perhaps you have been decieved by a method from the vain imagination of man’s mind to overthrow the sin that has so easily beset you.  Many have…myself included.

Behold the Lamb of God – Jesus Christ…follow Him.

Humanistic Psychology

carnal-mindAll scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

Psychology is the science of mind and behavior.  Please let me be clear, the carnal mind is at enmity with God (Romans 8:7).  Why would a born again Believer study that which is at enmity with God?

God has given the Believer His Word and His Holy Spirit to guide us into all Truths and they will never contradict one another.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

10 And you are complete in Him, which is the Head of all principality and power:

11 In Whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

12 Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also you are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, who has raised Him from the dead.”  Colossians 2:8-12.

It is the “circumcision made without hands” through our faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ that changes the heart of the Believer.  Our desires become His desires when we deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow the Lord Jesus Christ…not that which is at enmity with God.  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit.

Latitude

nothing-but-jesus10 For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He lives, He lives unto God.

11 Likewise reckon you also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof.

13 Neither yield you your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under Grace.”  Romans 6:10-14

Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we are buried with Him by baptism into His death (Romans 6:4), our old man is crucified with Him so that we should henceforth, no longer serve sin.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His Resurrection:” Romans 6:5

Knowing Who Jesus is and what He has done on Calvary’s Cross for whosoever will believe, there is no doubt as to His Resurrection.  Therefore we, as Believers, should reckon ourselves also to be dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through the shed Blood of Jesus Christ.  You see, the shed Blood of Jesus Christ is the ONLY way we are alive unto God.

Through our continued faith in Jesus Christ and His atoning work for victory over the world, the flesh and the devil after our Salvation we are able yield ourselves unto God “as those that are alive from the dead”.  The lost or those who continue to walk after the flesh are unable to yield themselves unto God because they are not giving the Holy Spirit latitude (freedom) to do that which He is commissioned to do – free us from the law of sin and death.  We are all given a free will to serve God. If we don’t willingly choose to serve the Lord through HIS plan of victory (faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified), we are not giving the Holy Spirit the freedom to do His work in our hearts and lives to become the new creature in Christ Jesus.

Would to God you could bear with me (Apostle Paul) a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.

For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.”  2 Corinthians 11:1-4.

There are religious parasites that seek after God’s Children.  They have a form of godliness but their hearts are far from him.  These parasites attempt to direct the Believer’s faith to anything other than the finished work of Jesus Christ to “gain” (not maintain) the victory we already have through the Blood of Jesus Christ.  They corrupt the simplicity that is in Christ with wisdom of words and vain philosophies.

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:1-2.

Jesus Christ and Him crucified is not a slogan.  For those who believe, Who He is and what He has done on Calvary’s Cross, It is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18).

Carnal Minds

believeThere is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8:1-8

Experience oriented theology based in emotionalism is not walking after the Spirit of God. Philosophies and intellectualism from supposed “Christian” pastors in an attempt to overthrow the dominion of sin in the Believer’s life by any means other than faith in the Cross of Christ, in effect claims the Cross of Christ was in vain.  Somebody said,  “A Believer should not be dominated by sin.” and they are correct.  However, the sad reality is many Believer’s, who truly love the Lord, are dominated by sin.  Whether it be depression, self righteousness, nicotine, alcohol, homosexuality, so on and so forth; they hate their sin but have no power in their own self effort to have dominion over that sin.

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” Romans 7:18.

The Holy Spirit is not commissioned to isolate our sin nature when our faith is in our emotions, 40 days of purpose, feasts, festivals, ceremonies or 21 days of fasting for victory over sin…and make no mistake, sin is the problem.  The law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus requires faith in Jesus Christ, Who He is and what He has done for whosoever will believe, to free us from the law of sin and death.  Nothing we can do except simple faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ will free us from the law of sin and death.  “Our part” IS faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified to lead us out of this pilgrim land!

They that are in the flesh cannot please God.  Prayerfully consider “your part”.  Are you in effect saying the Cross of Christ was in vain with your part?  I do not say this disparagingly.  At one point in my life, I zealously tried doing my part.  However, praise be to God, I found that in which I was seeking when I quit trying to earn victory and believed the Word of God to be true in spite of my circumstances.

The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Fruit of the Mouth

luke-6-45A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”  Luke 6:45

A mantra is a statement or slogan repeated frequently.  The mantra spoken, even if it is Scripture, does not constitute the treasure of our heart.  A mantra, incantation or spell does not, cannot and will not change the treasure of one’s heart. However, out of the abundance of one’s heart, their mouth speaks. Constantly speaking doubt out of the treasure of the heart, is in fact speaking the death that is in the heart.  On the other hand, speaking of trust and belief in God supplying all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19), NOT as a mantra but from the good treasure of our hearts, we speak life.

A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:20-21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Discern the fruit of the mouth, not the religious mantra, is it death or is it life?  For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth will speak.

Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Does a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?”  James 3:10-11.

We cannot tame our tongue. However, through our faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ on Calvary’s Cross for day to day victory over the world, the flesh and the devil, we allow the Holy Spirit latitude to do that which He is commissioned to do in the heart of the Believer…free us from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).  We allow the circumcision without hands to take place in our hearts and lives as our faith is authored and finished by Jesus Christ.  Precept upon precept, line upon line, the fruit of our mouth becomes Heavenly as we become a new creature in Christ Jesus.

Discern the fruit of the mouth, not the religious mantras.

Stand Still

Stand still13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear you not, stand still, and see the Salvation of the Lord, which He will show to you to day: for the Egyptians whom you have seen to day, you shall see them again no more for ever.

14 The Lord shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” Exodus 14:13-14

The only fight the Child of God is called to fight is the good fight of faith – faith in Jesus Christ, Who He is and what He has done on Calvary’s Cross for whosever will believe.

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to STAND.” Ephesians 6:10-13 (emphasis added)

Too many continue to fight a battle that has already been won by Jesus Christ.  The Lord blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us and nailed it to His Cross. Having spoiled principalities and powers, Jesus Christ openly made a show of every demon in hell (Colossians 2:14-15).

Many Believers stand at the Altar of Jesus Christ and Him crucified in unbelief.  They go through the “religious ordinances” to obtain from God that which can only come by faith through grace.  In effect, they are attempting to obtain from God the victory Jesus has provided to all who believe by another means.

For Salvation, they stand at the foot of the Cross of Jesus…and praise God for such.  However, for the victory Jesus afforded whosoever will believe, they stand at Cain’s altar seeking to overthrow principalities, powers and rulers of darkness.  To do this, to overthrow these principalities, powers and rulers of darkness, we must run to the Altar where JESUS made a show of every demon in hell and abide in HIS finished work for our victory…not our vain attempts.

Our victory requires belief in Jesus’ atoning work on Calvary’s Cross for both our Salvation and dominion over sin (Romans 6:14) in our day to day living. We either reckon the Word of God to be true or we reckon It to be a lie.

What do you reckon?  Is God able to go before you and make your crooked paths straight?  Is the Lord able to fight for you or are you fighting for yourself? Fight the good fight of faith…faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified.  Be determined to know nothing else among you and STAND.

Death unto Life

death unto life“7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the Power may be of God, and not of us.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-10.

The Apostle Paul’s ministry did not gather grapes of thorns and figs of thistles (Matthew 7:16-20).  So that the Power may be of God in his earthen vessel, Paul presented in his life the victory we have through the Cross of Christ.  “Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus…” as the Source and the Means by which life and liberty are found.  Life and liberty were played out in Paul’s life and made manifest to others.  Paul picked up his cross daily, not through strict religious disciplines which lead to death but, by bearing about in his body the dying of our Lord Jesus which IS our victory, the ONLY victory by which life and liberty from sin’s dominion is found.

Know you not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?

Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His Resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”  Romans 6:3-6

Knowing WHO Jesus Christ is and WHAT He accomplished on Calvary’s Cross for whosoever will believe, there is no doubt as to His Resurrection.  Furthermore, being determined to know nothing else other than WHO Jesus is and WHAT He did on Calvary’s Cross daily, allows the Power, which is the Cross of Christ, to be of God and not of man.  Being planted together in the likeness of Jesus’ death, HIS victory over sin and death works in us so that we too may be in the likeness of His Resurrection.  What Jesus accomplished through His death, works in us life and life more abundantly.

We no longer serve our sin nature, which we are all born with due to Adam’s fall, but our sin nature (elder nature) serves our new nature, our younger nature…the Divine Nature (Genesis 25:23, Romans 9;12) – the elder serves the younger.  Through our faith in Jesus’ atoning work, the Holy Spirit is given the latitude to do that which He is commissioned to do in our life, free us from the law of sin and death.

For we which live are always delivered unto death  for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death works in us, but life in you.” 2 Corinthians 4:11-12.

If Jesus’ finished work, His death, is working in us, It will bring life to others.  You will know them by their fruit.  Do they gather grapes of thorns and figs of thistles? Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing.

Simplicity in Christ

SimplicityBut I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.” 2 Corinthians 11:3-4.

The simplicity that is in Christ lays waste the methods of man created by satan to corrupt and complicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It is more appealing to the flesh to read a book and fast for 21 days or conjure up 40 days of purpose. What happens during the 325 days without purpose?  Perhaps the seduction of ancient Jewish mysticism or extra biblical revelations and prophecies from the vanities of man’s mind deceives the carnal mind into believing such things are Scriptural.

For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds by Christ.

And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and Salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and Salvation.

And our hope of you is steadfast, knowing, that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so shall you be also of the consolation.” 2 Corinthians 1:5-7.

The sufferings and afflictions that abound in born again Believers who are determined to know nothing else except Jesus Christ and Him crucified ARE the offence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At some point in the Believer’s life, the Lord has dealt with them.  HIS Truth offended their “truth”,  which was not Truth but a lie.  HIS Gospel, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Who came to die on Calvary’s Cross to pay our sin debt and free us (whosoever will believe) from the law of sin and death offended our efforts to overthrow the evil before us. The law, which condemned man to eternal death and sin’s dominion, was blotted out and nailed to the Cross so that we who believe can be made free… and we who have been made free are free indeed.

I am not speaking here of the horrible physical sufferings and afflictions many Believers have endured around the world at the hand of evil man.  I’m speaking of the “sufferings” and “afflictions” which were a result of the Gospel’s offence when the Lord, through the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, brings one to the point of decision.  That point when Jesus Christ, Who HE is and what HE has done for the sinner to be reconciled to God and for the Saint to follow God, is lifted up among the captive, bruised and brokenhearted (Luke 4:18) and HE draws them to the point of decision (John 12:32).  The point when they can no longer stand under the convicting power of the Holy Spirit and the GOSPEL, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, lays waste their methods, their ceremonies, traditions, and the like; THEN does their consolation also abound.

This consolation, which brought our sufferings and afflictions through the offence of the Gospel to the Believer is effectual…”It”, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, which offends but brings consolation and Salvation will do the same for others…but we have to trust It, we have to believe It and allow It to offend.  Otherwise the lost will remain lost and the Believers will remain bound in their ineffectual and unprofitable sufferings with no consolation, no hope and no light.

There is a simplicity that is in the Gospel of Christ Jesus.  Let no man beguile you with wisdom of words and lustful deceits.  It is simply by faith through grace that we are saved from eternal death and sanctified from sin’s dominion.

And He (Jesus) said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15.

Follow Him

Follow Me23 And He (Jesus) said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it.

25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?” Luke 9:23-25

The definition of asceticism is the practicing of strict self denial as a measure of, in this case, a religious discipline.  This (asceticism) seems to be the only answer the religious have for the problem of sin…and make no mistake, sin is the problem in the world.

When Jesus said “if any man will come after Me, let him deny himself”, He did not mean asceticism, but rather the denying of one’s self will and self efforts to overcome the sin that so easily besets us.  Let me be clear, I did not say deny (ignore) sin.  I did not say it is ok to sin.  Jesus came to save us FROM sin, not IN sin.  What I said was deny ourselves, our self efforts and self will, to overcome sin.  We can’t overcome sin in our own efforts.  If this was so, the Cross of Christ was in vain. God forbid, no.  We deny ourselves and depend totally on Jesus Christ and His atoning work on Calvary’s Cross to give us dominion over sin…just like the Bible says (Romans 6:14).  If we don’t deny ourselves, we in fact deny Jesus.

Calvary’s Cross was the means by which Jesus (and Jesus alone, Who is the Source) delivered sinful man from eternal death and dominion of sin. Our faith in His finished work is the means by which the promises of God are yes and amen to whosoever will believe.  Daily we must pick up the means (faith) by which our victory is received – our cross. Daily we must fight the good fight of faith; faith in Jesus Christ and His redeeming work as the Source and the means by which our victory is maintained; not gained.  Victory of death, hell and the grave was gained once, now we must maintain through a constant daily fight keep our faith solely and exclusively on Jesus, Who HE is and what HE has done for all who have accepted Him as their Lord and Saviour.

We must be determined to know nothing else but Jesus Christ and Him crucified.  Faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified IS the means by which the Holy Spirit is commissioned to overthrow the dominion of our sin nature.  This is the only way the Holy Spirit is given latitude to free us from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2)…through faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified; NOT asceticism, religious works or self efforts.  Again, if that was so, the Cross of Christ was in vain.  Picking up our cross is the ability (by denying our self efforts) to partake in the benefits of Grace (Jesus and His finished work) through faith.

There is no other way to follow Jesus Christ unless we deny our self efforts and pick up the benefits of His finished work.  The lost cannot follow Jesus.  Sadly, there are many Saints who cannot follow Jesus either because they deny Jesus and pick their own efforts to overcome.  All the while, the Holy Spirit, Who IS greater but He is not commissioned to free us from the law of sin and death when our faith is in our various methods and means to overcome that which Jesus Christ has already done.

Jesus Christ can only be followed by the Believer looking solely and exclusively unto Him, the Author and the Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross.  He is sitting at the Right Hand of the Throne of God searching the earth to and fro to show Himself strong in those whose heart is prepared to seek God.  Follow Him.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it.”  Luke 9:24

Behold, I Show You a Mystery…

Romans 851 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.” 1 Corinthians 15:51-54

Due to Adam’s fall we are all born in corruption.  We are spiritually dead and separated from God as the result of Adam’s sin.  There is NO atonement for sin outside of Jesus Christ.  Buddha, Mohammed or Confucius cannot reconcile us to God.  Most Believers will give a hearty “Amen” to that one, amen?  However, may I present a kink in many’s religious diatribes…neither will 40 days of purpose, 12 steps to celebrating recovery, humanistic psychology, vain philosophies from the vanities of man’s own mind or religious ceremonies and traditions reconcile us to God.  Uh oh, I probably just lost about 75% of my readers.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

Through faith in the Son of God, Jesus Christ, for the atonement of sin our spirit is quickened and we are alive unto God.  The Holy Spirit bears witness that we are a Child of God (Romans 8:16).  This atonement that Jesus Christ paid when He came to die on Calvary’s Cross to give us life and life more abundantly paid for all sin; past Saint’s, present Saint’s and future Saint’s sins…not just the Saints of that day.  If there was but one sin left unatoned, Christ would not have risen from the dead.  The wage of sin is death, remember (Romans 6:23)?

There is something else I want you to know as well.  I want you to know that this same atonement of sin made by Jesus Christ on Calvary’s Cross gives us, those who follow Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, dominion over sin (Romans 6:14).  There is no atonement for sin outside of Jesus Christ and HIS finished work and there is no dominion over sin outside of Jesus Christ and HIS finished work.  There are no methods to overcome sin outside of faith through grace.

We (Believers), who were once spiritually dead, have been planted together in the likeness of His death.  Our sinful man has been crucified with Christ.  We know that our sin has been fully and completely atoned for by Jesus Christ through His atoning work as the Sacrificial Lamb of God on the Cross and the Holy Spirit bears witness.

As a born again Child of God we are now spiritually alive unto God and able to yield our faculties unto righteousness as those who are alive from the spiritually dead.  There is a change in our life.  Old things pass away and all things become new.  Our sin nature is not dead, corruption has not put on incorruption yet, but we are now dead unto our sin nature as the Holy Spirit, Who is greater, isolates and dethrones the reigning monarch (sin) in our heart.  Because of our faith in Jesus’ atoning work, we give the Holy Spirit latitude to free us from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).

Then comes the religious hierarchy declaring varying worldly statutes to overcome that which we have already been freely given by the Lord Jesus Christ…dominion over the sin that so easily besets us.  Instead of maintaining our victory through faith in Jesus and HIS atoning work, we are taught to “gain” our victory through faith in our self efforts to be “like” Christ…not IN Christ.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”  Romans 8:1-2.
