“7 Marvel not that I said unto you, you must be Born Again.
8 The wind blows where it listeth, and you hear the sound thereof, but cannot tell from where it comes, and whither it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” John 3:7-8
The Born Again experience is not an intellectual one. It cannot be explained. All who are born have been born of water (natural child birth) but until the believing sinner decides to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, they are (just as we all once were) spiritually dead unto God.
The lost is not lost because they do not believe in Jesus Christ, Who He is and what He has done for them. No, not at all. They do not believe in Jesus Christ because they are lost. The lost are spiritually dead. Just as a liar is not a liar because they lie but they lie because they are a liar; the lost cannot help but be lost until they willingly choose to be Born Again.
“4 Therefore we are buried with Him by Baptism into Death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His Death, we shall be also in the likeness of His Resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” Romans 6:4-6
Those who have friends who have Born Again…and I mean truly Born Again, not joined a church and reciting a prayer, will notice a change in them. They (we) have been spiritually planted together in Jesus’ Death, the place where sin and death was and is utterly defeated. Sin’s dominion in our heart has been dethroned and the Holy Spirit rules and reigns.
It is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to superintend the work of God in the Believer’s life. It is He Who creates in us a new heart. Old things pass away and all things become new. We are not yet perfected and we will not be this side of glory but one thing is for sure, sin shall not have dominion over the Born Again Believer AS LONG as our faith remains in Who Jesus is and what He did on Calvary’s Cross to break the power of sin in the Believer’s life.
The problem comes when we are not yet perfect, as many teach we should be, and we begin laying down rules to keep from doing said sin. We have that “oh wretched man moment”.
“22 For I delight in the Law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” Romans 7:22-24
When our faith is directed to these rules which forbid sinful acts and our will power to overcome such, sin’s dominion once again gains strength. To be sure, this IS NOT because sin is stronger than the Holy Spirit Who is working in us to produce fruit unto God. God forbid no! The Holy Spirit is not commissioned to superintend the work of God when our faith is directed to laws and self will to overcome sin; therefore He (the Holy Spirit) withdraws His power and allows us to do us we wish. Remember, we are all born with our own free will and if we will to rely on our abilities to overcome the power of sin, then the Lord will allow us that choice. This is all in hopes that we will see our inability and return to Him…it is for redemptive purposes that the Lord allows sin’s power but it is not His Will.
“And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23
But don’t quit!! If you have been Born Again and placed your faith in your ability to overcome sin, repent and seek deliverance. It is not too late this side of glory. There IS victory in the Cross of Christ. Get your eye off of your problem, on the Cross of Christ and be healed in Jesus Name. Give the Holy Spirit latitude to remove that which is not pleasing unto God by purposefully placing your faith in the Cross of Christ for sin’s dominion. The Holy Spirit lusts to envy; He wants to snatch away sin’s dominion but will not do so as long as we are looking unto our abilities or vain philosophies for the victory of which Christ came to die on Calvary’s Cross to afford whosoever will believe.
Believe today that the Cross of Christ Jesus was and is sufficient for what ever your problem may be. Be determined to know nothing else among you. Stand still and see the Salvation of the Lord move in YOUR heart and YOUR life. The blessings of God are not just for others but you too.
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
