“1 And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.
2 And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.
3 And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel.” Numbers 25:1-3
If we foolishly believe that we can pick out the ‘good’ in one’s ministry and dismiss the ‘bad’, we have gone a whoring with the children of Moab ourselves. It’s not that we ‘dismiss’ the Lord and His precepts when we do such but that we DON’T dismiss their ways as the wrong way. Too many joyfully stand shoulder to shoulder with those who have gone a whoring after the daughters of Moab without ever telling them. As the daughters perish, so too are those who stand beside them comforting them as they are living a life of spiritual defeat while grasping at the altars of Cain. With our mouths we indeed worship the Lord but our hearts are far from Him as we stand in unity…committing whoredom with the daughters of Moab.
Satan, by and through religious teachers and preachers, associate religious idolatry with Christ, recognize the ‘good’ in ALL religions and provide a form of worship that appeals to man’s natural heart. If Satan can give a religious rite or a sanctimonious ceremony in order to bring us closer to God…something that ‘we’ can do, our carnal mind can intellectually interpret it; the world accepts it and off to Moab we go a whoring. Make no mistake, there is a Golden Calf on every street corner in every town with their doors wide open to all Christians who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour seeking for us to join with them; to align ourselves with their ways so we may serve as bait for others. The devils no fool and if we think he is, we are being played the fool.
“1 Know ye not, Brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives?
2 For the woman which has an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he lives; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.” Romans 7:1-2
When we commit spiritual adultery with the daughters of Moab, we are no longer dead to the law by the Baptism into the Death of Jesus but are in fact alive unto our old husband; joining ourselves spiritually with him by faith in his precepts for righteousness.
“3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His Death?
4 Therefore we are buried with Him by Baptism into Death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:3-4
We are either dead to the former spouse (the law) through the Blood of Christ Jesus or we are alive unto Him. It is where our faith is placed that determines in whom we are going to join ourselves with…the daughters of Moab or the Cross of Christ.
“For the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the Law of Sin and Death.” Romans 8:2
The Believer cannot remain in an unscriptural environment and remain spiritually clean as it regards false doctrine. When our faith is placed solely and exclusively in the Cross of Christ for the answer to our dilemma…whatever that dilemma might be, we remain dead to our former husband and alive unto God; spiritually alive and able to worship Him in spirit and in truth…not merely a form. It is the Holy Spirit and Him ALONE Who can free us from the Law of Sin and Death and place us squarely under the Government of Grace. The Government of Law, where our former spouse abides, is not going to free us from his dominion but deceitfully bring us back into captivity. Rewrapped and cloaked in religious precepts, our natural heart lusts for his ways.
“4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world hears them.
6 We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears not us. Hereby know we the Spirit of Truth, and the spirit of error.” 1 John 4:4-6
The Holy Spirit lusts to envy; He wants to free us from the law of our former spouse and take back what the devil has stolen. He wants to set at liberty the captive and heal the sick but He cannot do so when we are looking to and joining with the world and it’s precepts for victorious Christian living.
We are of God and he that knows God hears us. Listen for that still small Voice. He is calling His People out from among the daughters of Moab; He’s standing at the door knocking.
“12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small Voice.
13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What are you doing here, Elijah?” 1 Kings 19: 12-13
God is not in your storms. He is not in your earthquake. Not trusting in His Grace, you have run and hid in the caves of religious rites…but there remains a Voice; a still small Voice Who is wanting to use you; wanting you to attend to your ministry He has given you – your perfect purpose according to His Will. Come out from among them. Listen to the still small Voice and just believe.
